Xcode 4 on one monitor, AppCode on the other. Xcode has a great debugger and build process, but it seriously sucks for refactoring code and editing text. AppCode is a bit slow and weak in some areas (namely obj-c analysis), but running both side-by-side gets one the best of both worlds.

So basically, the last word according to this post is, "some people think deflation is the devil, but other people think it's good. Let's ignore them both and just see what happens."

This has absolutely nothing to do with Farmville for many reasons, though the most obvious is that you are actually raising real food. If I understood the point of the site correctly, it is essentially a coop farm with the ability to sign up on the internet.

Remember what the 2008 presidential race looked like in 2007? Why don't we wait another year or so and ask ourselves this question then...

Also had no problems whatsoever with my Intel X-25M, over 1.5 years old now. I've heard a lot of horror stories about other manufacturers, but never met another Intel user who had problems. Supposedly OCZ has gotten much better quality wise, though there are lots of bad reviews for those drives on newegg.

I'm also a developer in Stockholm, but originally from the US. Looking at my taxes from last year, I guess that I also made a similar amount before taxes, and most of my friends earn similar amounts. After taxes this would come out to about $50K.

Previously, I worked in Germany and I earned about the same amount (before taxes), probably a bit more afterwards. However, you can't and shouldn't compare the dollar amounts directly.

First of all, the taxes are higher (especially in Sweden), but you get more out of them. Health care, for instance, is excellent and is completely taken care of, whereas this is usually calculated as a "benefit" in the US. It's not uncommon for Americans to get shafted on the health insurance or to have to pay it themselves if they are independent contractors. Also, vacations benefits here are also very ample compared to the US. Five weeks per year is standard in Sweden, most professionals get six.

Also, I don't need to own a car here. That saves a ton of money, time, and mental health. I bike/walk/take public transport everywhere here. This is only possible in a handful of American cities, of which I have never personally lived in.

Stockholm is expensive, but the quality of life here is worth it. I consider myself very lucky to earn as much as I do, and I enjoy the life that I have here, which you can't put a price on.

Just switched to an Apple Magic Trackpad after years of wishing that someone would make a giant trackpad. It's everything that I had hoped for.

Good communication trumps good programming skills. As for non-native speakers, they tend to get a native speaker have a look over their CV or provide a CV in their native language.

If they have no native-lang CV which you could understand, you will almost certainly have troubles communicating with them, which means no hire. If they didn't go through the trouble of getting a native English speaker to edit their CV, then how badly do they really want the job anyways?
