Obviously in any nontrivial web app it would fail because of authentication issues, but if a server doesn't do ANY sort of security checking, that should work, no? Does that mean that the onus is on the server developer of mybank.com? And if so, what would stop the malicious request from working on any server developed before the existence of CORS?

I made it a point to meet all the deadlines and assignments, which kept me honest and forced me to be timely. It was free when I did it, but I'm not sure if that's changed since looking at other courses I don't seem able to receive a certificate or weekly grades if not paying... Point being it may be worth it to pay just so you feel incentivized to finish the course with a passing grade :)
I consider myself smarter than the average Joe off the street, and you do too. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading HN :) So social cues, reading a crowd, and being engaging, it all takes practice. Yes, some people develop this naturally and don't need to consciously practice, but others don't. So just like programming, stop saying "No, I just don't get it", and instead reason why you don't and next time nail it.
Maybe it's the rebellious spirit still lingering, but there is only one hard cold fact in there. We DO pay their salary! The rest of the things I wouldn't say to my worst enemy. However I find it funny that when talking about law enforcement stating that specific fact turns into a threat...
I think we should also watch out for link-bait SEO headlines such as "Why Webkit is the New IE6 (The Trap of Vendor Prefixes)"...
...Or maybe they could just want to increase accessory sales.
