If you submit an article about that people who find it interesting may upvote it and it may end up on the front page, like this one.

It's pretty rare that I get blocked on something mundane like a PR, but if I do I just tend to message a colleague something along the lines of, "hey, can you please take a look at X when you next have a moment? blocking me for Y" and that resolves the issue promptly.

TBH I think micromanaging inter-team communication by turning it into a process that requires a responsible individual to run is far more dysfunctional.

> What bothers me most about meetings is their duration. There's no need to schedule hour-long meetings.

So finish them.

"What else is on the agenda?"

"Have we covered off everything?"

"Let's schedule a separate session for that."

"I think we're aligned. Let's wrap up early."

Etc.

You're describing a specific way of working.

I've worked at places that operate the way you're describing.

The place I currently work at operates quite differently. We also ship more software, faster, and it's of higher quality.

Make of that what you will.

> Every journalist who is not too stupid or too full of himself to notice what is going on knows that what he does is morally indefensible. He is a kind of confidence man, preying on people's vanity, ignorance or loneliness, gaining their trust and betraying them without remorse. Like the credulous widow who wakes up one day to find the charming young man and all her savings gone, so the consenting subject of a piece of nonfiction learns - when the article or book appears - his hard lesson.

I mean I'm sure they exist somewhere, but parent was talking about "these people" being the group swatting Patrick Tomlinson and I don't think that's the case.

Unfortunately this problem is pretty widespread. The typical solution is for the victim to establish a relationship with the PD which enables the PD to quickly confirm the report with the victim via an alternate channel prior to dispatch. I suspect this is what households with private security put in place. The ultra-wealthy and super-prominent politicians seem to avoid swatting despite drawing more public ire than Patrick Tomlinson.

Lots of people lived in the American west for thousands of years without clearing entire old growth forests for fire and shelter.

Sensible people living in sane societies understand the benefit of clear and simple rules that don't require a vast corpus of reference material to adjudicate.

> Don't repeat yourself, and don't re-write helper functions

It's worth reflecting on why these things are important to you and whether they remain important in an agent-developed codebase.

I think it's a mistake to respond to microeconomic concerns with macroeconomic reassurances.

> Do good work and be nice the rest follows

Nice little soundbite but for this to work your personal interpretation of "good work" and "be nice" needs to align with the people around you and the broader organisation.
