Obligatory reference to the other great utopia in scifi, The Culture series from Iain M. Banks.

As much as I love Star Trek, The Culture feels more mature and nuanced.

You meant "automation", right?

For a moment there my first tought was that "autonation" might be something like the concept of a nation made by the individual itself or something like that.

We need to create a word for typos/autocomplete errors that have a positive result like this on the reader.

True, even some orders of magnitude larger.

I'm hopeful that the jewels will rise to the top on their own merits, but with millions of games released every day it's gonna be difficult.

Maybe I'm a romantic but I hope there are some genius game designers in the world that now can release their dream games with the help of AI.

The contrary, marketing was already important on Steam since the indie boom of some years ago. Now it's something you cannot escape if you want to earn money from indie games.

Arguably some mass market AAA games already were slop.

In a future with millions of games released every day discoverability or curation of the great games will be really important (even more than it is now).

So marketing wins again, I guess.

For a second I read "built on XSLT" and a shiver went down my spine.

Am I the only one that hates seeing "cyber" when refering to cybersecurity?

The same with "crypto" to refer to cryptocoins instead of cryptography.

> I suggested to the client that if he still resists having another professional audit it, at least let some frontier LLM have a look. Yes, I recommended this guy to vibe code his security-sensitive code because "professional developers" today still miss the basics.

Amen. Nowadays it is borderline malpractice to not use a coding agent for checking the security of your code.

I like when bad intentions produce good results, I'm tired of seeing the opposite in practice.

It's the classic worrying about having the best security front door while having glass windows.

Seeing you mentioning "apps" makes me think I have not explained it well...

I'm not talking specifically about performance here, more about ease of use and not having to learn to interact with a machine via UIs, keyboards, mouses and weird things like these.

They just care about getting the result they want without having to learn our cute UIs.

If they could ask the machine to "machine do this now!" and it would be done (quickly, of course) they would be really happy (and pay you well for it).
