Hard disagree here.

My days are long and full. And as a somewhat introverted person it takes additional energy to remember to keep in touch with people. Even those that I like very, very much.

So it helps to have a reminder and something that actively pushes one to do so. Not every person in the world is wired the way you are.

Jakobs approach is basically a more automated calendar. Plus, he is actively making an effort to keep in touch with people he deems important enough to be in his life. Its not as if he is sending automated messages to them.

While reading the text I was asking myself, whether it is an American or a SV thing, to tilt towards 100% work in the work-life-balance. There was recently an article about successful startups from Utah that worked 9-to-5 and still had a good and scalable business running. I see similar things in Germany. We do not have unicorns, but there are thousands of businesses supporting hundreds of workers. And rarely do they have to sacrifice everything to run those.

There is a case to be made for being fast "online" with a new breakthrough technology. So they just made their bet as any startup bets on a central thesis.

And its not like GPT-3 is useless. It is perfect for immitating texts written by other entities.

I know more Brave than Steam users. Maybe not everyone lives in your social Circle and in the U.S.A.

Or maybe anecdotes do not tell the whole story.

Following the Protocoll does not mean you act democratic necessarily. The NSDAP was following the protocoll as well in the beginning. Every protocol and law can be abused. Especially when you control the judiciary.

The problem with Polands move is that the legislative tries to control the judiciary, a thing that goes against the very definition of a free democracy.

Similar in Turkey. The AKP controls not only the legislative without any real opposition, they also inoficially control the judiciary and the executive. Since all critical journalists get put in prison, the Press is also opressed.

Well I have the same problems with Paypal that you have with Stripe. Its also not true that you can use Paypal everywhere.

As a German citizen I cannot use Subscriptions with Paypal for my company for example.

Then you should change to reddit. The spirit of Hacker News encourages you to argue not to blindly downvote everyone that doesn't have the same opinion.

There is Geodemlia, that routes by geographical distance and is based of Kademlia and its routing buckets.

The problem, as with most P2P-networks, is that its not resistant to high network churn.

Proof of Stake is not free of fault. First and foremost it gives an inherent incentive for hoarding, which is the death of every currency.

If they want to privde Internet for everyone, why don't they use their money to fund, for example, DTN research? Ah right, then they couldn't collect every move the internet user makes onlne.

I've just learned about the Y-Combinator in a lecture about functional programming a few weeks ago. Very excited for the Video as soon, as the website is up again.

I am a little bit disappointed, that I have to be part of a company to apply there. No time to work full time while doing my masters.
