Velkommen to the profile of Shaun Pedicini!

Fun fact about me: I enjoy crawling through really tight awkward spaces in the remote possibility that it's actually a portal to Narnia.... it never is.

Thanks I'll have to set aside some time later to try it out. It's kind of a sliding scale, but pi is definitely lighter-weight when compared to harnesses like Opencode and the all-batteries included "Oh-My-Pi".

And of course, “lightweight” does have a lot of interpretations where harnesses are concerned (memory footprint, binary size, performance, system prompt, etc).

If you’re the creator of this harness, you should disclose that. I have nothing against self-promotion, it’s just considered good practice.

Some feedback but it might be worth calling out how your harness differs from other relatively light-weight ones like Pi. I assume its got a much smaller memory footprint given yours is C versus Pi's. There are so many agentic harnesses out there that a comparison table might be a nice thing to have on the landind page.

Note: Just to be clear, I'm not accusing you of trying to hide it, given that the GitHub account for Hax is basically identical to your HN account.

Nice job. Small bit of feedback - did you look over today’s word list? It felt a little jarring particularly given the soft pastel theme.

Not saying bawdy profanity doesn’t have its place in poetry but you may want to at least allow people to filter out those words if you want this to reach a wider audience.

Nice job. My only minor feedback is that the first 6-letter word of today's puzzle feels a mite obscure. (Without spoiling anything, I'd never heard that word used standalone without a preceding one)

Interesting - I guess it's hard to say if it would be caught by anthropic censors upstream since we aren't really privy to how broad this new "net" is going to be.

This doesn't work for everybody and its a big decision, but sometimes having something that you have to take care of (such as a dog or a cat) helps you build consistent routines and develop a sense of responsibility outside of just yourself which can cross-pollinate into other areas of your life.

For example having dog means having to take it out regularly for walks and feed it regularly. And in the words of the immortal Calvin and Hobbes, they make for excellent fuzz therapy. Good luck and hope you start feeling better.

It seems like there’s an audience among older people and possibly children, but I don’t see a situation in which a professional at least would really or want a touchscreen. Do you really want the oil from your fingers constantly smudging up your screen, particularly a glossy one? Unless it comes with a pair of complimentary Apple windshield wipers, it's gonna get gross fast.

The only situation I could see it being useful in is if it came with a pressure-sensitive pen, so you could use it for sketching and drawing. But even then, that would only really work well if the screen folded all the way around, so it would sit flush against the base or if it opened 180 degrees, so you could lay it flat on a table without it wobbling around on a hinge.

Agreed. Copycatting has existed all the way back to the early Atari days. In fact, Nolan Bushnell used to talk about constantly moving on to new products in order to “eat his own babies.” Swift style.

Always wary of “the jackals” and convinced that the only way to stay ahead of the competition was to introduce new products, Bushnell wanted to discontinue the VCS and move on to the next-generation game console. Bushnell preferred moving to new technologies rather than spending time refining old ideas and letting his competitors catch up to him. He called his philosophy “eating your own babies” and said that if Atari didn’t (eat its own babies), somebody else would.
-- Steven Kent (The Ultimate History of Video Games: From Pong to Pokemon)

The issue today is the breathtaking speed with which people can rip you off by simply pointing an agentic coding harness at your original IP and laundering it into 50 copies in the span of a single weekend.

> The corruption of historical sources of truth

For a while now, malicious actors have been using LLMs to make semi-plausible looking automated edits to Wikipedia pages to shift discourse, alter information, etc. Fortunately with wikimedia we have a revision history but it's been pretty overwhelming to the dedicated editor staff they have on hand.
