I don't think you are correct on this one, iPhone 3 was released 2008 then 4 had completely different hardware design in 2010 then 5 came in like you said iterated on and polished with again noticeable design changes and then 6 had completely new design in 2014 so in a span of 6 years and 4 generations of product you had a new design for each generation, so no it is not odd for Apple to do good hardware design they just stoped because it is easier I assume changing one hardware design element will disrupt the whole supply chain so yes they became very conservative with their hardware designs.

Replicator would be nice but here is a more managable list for start:

- Not solderable components so I can upgrade my machine, ok maybe this is too much I will just take an easy to replace battery. - Longer lasting battery for wearables like watches if the competition can make a battery last 15 days I think Apple can too especially given how efficient the arm chips are in their laptops. - Some hardware design changes Apple watch is literarily the same design since its launch, not to mention that the Apple watch ultra had different shades of orange for the button and the wheel I mean come on. - Software wise I really don't mind the new glass design system but I don't understand why I can't have basic features that an intern can push I literally bought and sold the apple watch like 5 times because I just wanted a simple step counter widget I didn't want a third party app a simple step counter widget and they released it this year 2026 a step counter widget maybe it is harder to do than a replicator who knows.

They will. It is a matter of time I just think the models are not fully there yet. The most obvious outcome for those companies will be similar to what Amazon is doing with their marketplace as soon as some product is doing ok in the sales charts they just spin their own product and push it I think it was Amazon basics or something like that.

Even if they don't end up making 100 different companies they are for sure going to acquire companies, or build internally, and incorporate functionality in the main product.

For me that is the only way they can keep going to vendorize the software industry, and there are already some signs for this.

More often I read everywhere that people barely write code anymore but somehow it is still important that you know what the code do.

I don't think this is true in any shape of form.

If you are not writing code no matter what kind of seniority or edge you think you might have you too are going to be obsolete in maybe 4-5 years or less.

I really wanted to become software engineer/developer whatever, this is a dead dream now it is like the great depression. The market is absolutely brutal and I don't see a way that things are going back to normal or pre LLMs, especially given how to industry reacted and followed the hype and everything around it.

I am with you on this one, probably sales charts are up for foldable phones but I am not sure those people are reading the room correct. We want smaller devices more tactile if we wanted ipads we would get ipads.

Value for money, simple software not bloated compared to garmin, heart rate is on par with apple watch. They update their old devices with new features I think one of their models just got a software update for global mapping where you would need to pay extra to get a model with that feature from the competition. Devices could be better in terms of design and fit and finish in time they will get there I hope but overall they are doing pretty good stuff.

I might be a minority but I never had interested in this foldable phone trend where you get just a bigger screen. I can't even consider dual display smartphone as a foldable phone. The benchmark for a foldable phone was Motorola Razr V3. I am not sure where they are going they really need some new people with some fresh ideas and vision. Sooner or later someone is going to start eating their lunch.

I am not sure who and why came up with this looks like a mass surveillance to me.

Criticism is very valid, I don't want to mention the exterior however there are some very nice UX design touches which industry had to adopt 10 years ago?

I assume some of it will be adopted from the industry in the upcoming years. Now that regulators are pushing back on touch displays, the integration of tactile buttons with software will be the move forward you still need to have a physical mechanical button it is better in terms of muscle memory and cognitive load. I never understood the central display abominations that car manufactures keep pushing however the rotation and adjustment of the position make it a little more bearable, Audi[0] had figured this out like 20 years ago with the retracting screen in the dashboard, give the users the ability to hide the display it makes the whole interior cleaner and the driver can focus on the driving. I still don't understand the push with the piano black plastics it looks awful this material needs to go from the car interiors once and for all.

I think Ivy did its job great here despite some design decisions the vision and the direction is the goal here with this car the blending of software with mechanical parts.

It is somehow funny tho that it took a designer like Ivy to work on a car project to push for things like that, like who are the people working in the design departments at those companies, the cars that are releasing in the last 5-10 years in terms of interior design are to say at least uninspiring for their price tag.

This will be a great reality check for consoles. If they don't drop their atrocious fees for online play I can't see what is the incentive to purchase PS/XBox in 2026.

I haven't watched Black Mirror but Silo is the next best thing I've seen after Matrix and the scenario doesn't seems far off too.

On a side note Alex books are a breath of fresh air for someone who is learning. They are always updated to the latest version of Go and if there is something new the old code base is updated and the new concepts introduced while you are being notified and send the new version of the book.

I never seen that before, all the other learning sources that I have are just abandoned, often there will be something that brakes and you have to spend good amount of time to figure out how to fix it, which can just discourage you to go on.

Kudos to Alex that is how it should be done.
