Kudos for keeping up! Golang seemed like a very reasonable choice when you ported there originally but the world is changing _fast_.

Thanks for saying this. I already use Vim (in my browser too). I've used it on and off in an editor as well. I've tried reading books (like I mentioned in the post) which is something you only do when you're truly desperate. For some of us, our body will only allow so much.

I am sure the OP was just trying to help. I, too, when I started having such problems chalked it up to "surely some adjustments will help". And they did! But it never quite ceased.

Thanks for sharing. I feel the same way but did not express it in my post. I've sat down to do some side projects in the past and realized that even though my mind has energy (I hear this can be rare.. but it is true for me!) the hands would be tired. I've probably completed more side projects this year than in the last few, even if the total amount of time spent on them is higher.

Like you, there was always this specter of "don't overdo it".

I thought I would share. I don't see this discussed much and thought it was interesting (it's my own post) when doing some introspection today. Is it from moving up in my career and I just type a little less? Has the movement from typing in a code editor all day to writing more prose helped? It's hard to say for sure, but a fun observation. :) I am curious if anyone else has experienced the same.

You think software engineers will go back to writing everything by hand?

Would love to read about these stories if you ever decide to blog and/or write a book about it. :)

Thanks for the fun read.

I think you're underselling this. Sunshine can't do any resolution on Linux. That's huge. :)

It's impressive but it seems like they cut out a ton of the grinding to level up the Charizard to brute force through the game.

While this is no small feat, it looks like Claude was unable to actually use a balanced team and instead just circle-square-pegged this thing. :)

I see a lot of hate for Google in this thread but at least one thing they do well: it's really easy to fix. Takeout actually works. You can just download your photos and leave. As the top post identified here, Microsoft makes this a REAL pain to leave after they snared you.

This is a social network. Did I miss something?

The author posted this on a vibe coding subreddit, so I'd be willing to wager some AI deep research with manual clean up.

It's vogue on HN to sometimes criticize critically so I want to try and be as constructive as possible:

I work for one of these companies. I also have pay bills to pay. I'd like to understand what a real, good alternative is.

Frontier labs such as Google DeepMind are not just going to shutter their doors because 10% of the peons dropped their jobs. I believe, at least, that we should be demanding political accountability and safeguards for society. I only get to live once: if I am to spend it for social change, I best maximize by expected return.

And quitting a job in a capitalist society probably has negative return overall.
