I don't think that's true, because google (and other search engines) were primarily about pointing you to sources which could give you an answer, not providing the answer directly.

Same. I think part of the problem is that keyboard shortcuts are often not very discoverable. For example on Macos, pop-up dialogs often have keyboard shortcuts for their non-default buttons, but I'm not sure where you're supposed to learn this. Lack of discoverability leads to many people not using them which leads to devs not implementing them.

What do LLMs have to do with it?

> How do I get it back?!

> Inexcusable that Paramount used the UK dub on some episodes

> Just downloaded it and had the same panic in my house

Sure I was being hyperbolic for effect but a lot of the tone is closer to panicking than “wondering”.

We are exposed to American accents all day every day. Americans often seem to want to protect themselves from having to be exposed to anything non-American, even going as far as to remake entire TV shows rather than just broadcasting the original.

What problem is it aiming to solve (that the file name doesn't already solve)?

Just like a psychological diagnosis is often based on proximity to a cluster of symptoms rather than specific ones that must be met, you can't point to one particular line that makes it AI. It is the combination of all of the sentences that aligns with our perception of AI.

Am I missing something or does the article fail to explain the point of Arrow’s Theorem? Is it satisfied for the discrete case, provably impossible, or what?

> While this applies to discrete rankings and voter preferences, one might wonder if it’s a unique property of its discrete nature in how candidates are only ranked by ordering. Unfortunately, a similarly flavored result holds even in the continuous setting! It seems there’s no getting around the fact that voting is pretty hard to get right.

I don’t follow any of this paragraph.

Dumb question, but why don’t they just use a single more highly-curved mirror rather than a series of 3 bounces?

PDF sounds like a terrible format for reading on the kindle, why not MOBI or epub or whatever it uses?

I don’t think it is. What you describe is similar to any other industry disruption, and I don’t think those are unethical. I’d actually argue that preventing disruption is often (not always) unethical, because you artificially prolong an inefficient or inferior alternative.

Waiting for someone to explain to me why this is hyperbole and bluster.

Zsh has a better builtin solution.

    hash -d x=/path/to/x
Then you can cd to there with just

    ~x
And use it in commands like

    ls ~x/whatever/
