This is one of the comments from the article, though I have no data to support this claim. Might be interesting if that's the case.

>The people likely to buy and iphone and sign up for an apple card are not carrying balances and racking up interest.

The image of Elon Musk turned sour after he decided to play geo-politcs and play the Putin's peacekeeper puppet. That event, at least for me showed the true colors of Musky

Yes, when you need certainty that data hasn't been tempered with. Logistics, being able to trace back where a certain item came from. How about trading cards, be certain that the trading card you are possessing is the only one and it is genuine. (NFTs)

I got one better, add an extra "Apple Tax" to the apps on the app store.

> It’s not just about hosting, they also provide basically the entire software stack you’re using. Pricing that is difficult but I don’t think it should be disregarded.

What if I don't want to use their "software stack"? Frankly, as developer, I'd rather spend my time developing than learning Apple specific ecosystem. Heck, React Native and Flutter do me just fine. Develop once and run everywhere.

In the end what does that $99/year license get me? A fancy certificate to publish on their only app store?

Can't you do that already with a hardware wallet?

I'm curious if the author of the article ever created systems tailored to a specific business. Website WYSIWYGs that create "beautiful" websites have probably taken a chunk of "Web Designer" jobs. (Square Space as an example).

Automated testing tools are created to help the developer and possibly save company some money by not hiring a dedicated QA person.

This is definitely not the first time I heard this, but of those who are claiming this BS were non-developers.
