Yeah I got this mixed up. I was thinking idiomatic vs grammatic. Maybe de kommer vs dem kommer is better

This is prescriptive vs descriptive grammar, where descriptive grammar describes how people actually use language. Using "they" in that context is only wrong because someone or group decided that must be the rule.

In Swedish -

> Vi går till mitt hus

"Let's go to my house" - this is correct but not really said

> Vi går hem till mig

"Let's go to my place" - incorrect but the actual way to say it

I wouldn't be surprised if more such discoveries were found. Papua is, as best as I can describe it, insane.

I've been using Jellyfin for my family for years. But the number of clients is interesting.

The web experience on a desktop/laptop is pretty much the only tolerable experience.

And I appreciate that the alternative clients try and address the poor UX of the default but I still find so many of the basic behaviors missing or inconsistent.

I can't offer anything better but I find it curious.

This is an almost rage bait take, but in any case I agree that the models ability to write correct code and fuzz and test that code does make language choice a different tradeoff than it was before.

Sorry, what do you mean there?

Actually I really only need bare vim now. It's really refreshing. I can view, navigate, diff etc without any fancy plugins. I can add comments where I want the agent to change something.

It's often better to just find ways to embrace what it tries to do naturally. Otherwise you're fighting the weights and hidden prompts

Ghostty is a strange example though because Mitchell is very keen on agentic engineering.

I've seen other apps do this as well e.g. Cal.com
