Docker containers are fine. I've moved between 5 NAS' over the years and docker has enabled it to be seemless.

rsync data directories. docker compose up. Done.

On the consumer or even prosumer nas products which have a semi-locked down system (ie Truenas/qnap/Synology). Technically you have root but as soon as you update the OS all/most of the changes end up being broken. Yes you could probably do something and deal with it. But personally I've spent too long babysitting it on the first and second nas that I no longer care.

While you're doing that check out Immich - https://immich.app

One of the best solutions I've ever used for photos, backups, enrichment, etc

They have killed old.reddit now. It forces you (or at least me) to login. Same with regular Reddit. Most threads I get an authwall after the top comment.

(Im now entirely on HN and Lemmy)

Can confirm. Also use glider which seems to double encode. I have to open the comment in Firefox/browser and then click on the link

Alpha codes don't allow replies. As such if you need to reply it has to be from a number

I have blocked medium.com because of that. Same as the SEO spam dev.to.

It's actually interesting how often I end up seeing the uBlock 'blocked' page because of it. And how blind I end up being to the serp domains.

I of course can click the bypass button on a case by case basis.

Ditto. No issues at all that my friends did not experience as well. (Long download/patching times).

Do you have any acticles or references about this? That would be great research (pun intended) to find out

They have marked the repo as noindex (or GitHub is forcing a noindex header).

Its returning a noindex flag so every serp is correctly doing what the repo has been asked.

That is... except for brave! I checked on my searx instance and it still showed up in brave's results

I migrated to forgejo a few years ago and never looked back. While there are some edge cases and known issues. All of my actions "just worked".
