It's not really panicking when CERT-EU is literally suggesting this (in the comment text of this story)

I take your point, but there remains a difference between a multi-GB file sitting on my hard drive and my use of a large complicated database fielding my search queries. I don’t believe that anybody is obligated to run a search engine for free for my benefit and it’s logical to pay a fraction of a cent if that makes it work.

For comparison that’s $5 with Brave Search API and $12 with Kagi API

Qwen3.8-27B is surprisingly effective, somewhere in the vicinity of Opus 4.6, but it needs to do a lot of inference-time computation. i.e. anything moderately involved requires xhigh reasoning and it will spend literally tens of thousands of tokens turning over a problem before emitting the answer. The answer/code/whatever is often surprisingly good, but if you’re in the low tens of tok/s you’ll be waiting a long time to get it.

As sibling said, you won’t hit the same quality using a 2 bit quant like this project, which is unfortunate but that’s the reality today.

From an Australian super fund: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10-09/firmus-float-gets-pul...

> "At the current valuation, it's priced to perfection. So much has to go right to justify the valuation.

> "Furthermore, we're quite concerned that Firmus will have to keep coming back to the market for a lot more debt and more equity to fund its expansion plans."

Glad to see risky bets getting flushed out before they reach index funds and regular people pay the price if it falls over.

Some doubt, actually. From the Guardian's reporting:

> Under the plan – dubbed “my feed, my way” – users opting out of the algorithm will see content only from individuals and groups they have actively chosen to follow.

> Users would be asked what they want their default feed to be through a pop-up message provided on their platform of choice.

If I want to say that iOS is useless for developing Bluetooth 5 features then this is true for all practical purposes and doesn’t deserve elaboration in my text, even if Apple’s API technically exposes one or two tiny pieces.

I'm somewhere between 100 and 110% sure the author knew what they were doing.

Even if you don't want style advice from an LLM (I generally don't, not for blogging), for a technical blogger "please check this post for factual accuracy" is a good way to not look like an idiot. Often it complains about hyperbole, which I tend to ignore since there's no point blogging unless you have some firm opinions, but on at least one occasion it pointed me towards some documentation that undermined my entire post - and led to a much better one a week later once I'd processed and applied that new information. Thanks, LLM.

The reason we happily walk around with our wallets is because Big Finance and Big Government are willing to invalidate and reissue our credit cards and identity documents, maybe even help us out with the fraudulent transactions after it was stolen.
