Only tangentially related: I have nothing but respect for EUMETSAT and their public data store. For past work projects I've had to interface with a pretty broad sample of the world's space and/or meteorological agency's public data stores and APIs and EUMDAC (EUMETSAT's API client) was top tier. Well documented, modern, fast, and generally headache free.

In fact, I have nothing but respect for any agency that makes free and public access to earth observation data a priority, regardless of how janky their API is.

What do you mean by "ideatic space" and "optimal ideatic equation" -- I'm not sure what "ideatic" means in these contexts.

When Suttree found me it was exactly the right time and it left me forever changed. Not a month goes by I don't think of it nearly a decade later. Definitely my personal favorite of his. Wish I was reading it again for the first time :)

Saw them live as my first post(ish)-pandemic show. Fantastic live. They opened with "Call me maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen then did a hard transition into 953.

Thanks for sharing. Wasn't aware of EdgeDB and running through the interactive tutorial now. As a general novice when it comes to databases (only ever interacted with pretty mature database systems on the job, never implemented one myself) I've always struggled with a personal lack of intuition when it came to getting comfortable with SQL. So far that's not the case with EdgeDB from what I've seen. I'm excited to dig into this a more and try it out with a personal project I'm working on.

My favourite contributions to meetings are "Nothing to contribute that hasn't already been said". Like a breath of fresh air a light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah exactly! Thinking back, the time's I've felt this the most is during stressful interviews -- e.g. I'm asked a difficult question and part way through my answer my nerves say "You've been talking for ages, you've lost them" but in reality it's been a perfectly reasonable amount of time and if I listen to my nerves I risk cutting the answer short.

I'd actually love a tool like this for interviews -- if had a mac or there was a linux build I'd definitely use this.

Re: Colours -- If I were to use this for this use-case (next time work gives me a mac perhaps) I think the current green -> red arrangement is fine as-is, as it covers both use-cases (if red -> too long; if green -> still have time)

Love it. Simple and effective UI. In the past I've had the opposite problem occasionally where I think I'm taking up much more time than I am (a consequence of nervousness maybe) and this would be helpful for that too -- not just an indicator for when you talk too long, but also when for when you are still "in the green" to combat that nervousness induced timewarp.

Love learning about words and ideas like "interregnum". It's uncomfortable to think of a global societal interregnum -- at what point we may be in it, where it will end up, and if things will be "better" on the other side.
