To learn more about vending machines, also refer to the anime "Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon"

Oh I'm just against it because I love the night sky and I don't want it littered with even more trash from obscenely rich American oligarchs. This tech doesn't help me, or anyone that is not in power. Instead it (and light pollution, but that at least not everywhere on the planet) destroys one of the few things that is there, commonly available for everyone to enjoy: the majestic view of the night sky.

Although looking like an idiot is probably better than being one of those Meta Glasses perverts

Looks fun, but it'll most probably need a Meta account, won't run open firmware, and most importantly wearing it in public instead of using my MacBook will make me look like an idiot. So: meh.

Always funny to see how plutonium pilled hn is. Nuclear power in Italy is idiotic. They won't even be able to cool the damn reactors. Europe is drying out.

As an anti imperialist, I can't wait for US secret services loosing their capabilities :) by the national security that the tech oligarchs (and this article, too) are constantly talking about, they just mean their own security anyway. It's not for you and me, duh.

> Why is Silicon Valley suddenly obsessed with “taste”? As AI generates endless content, tech elites like Greg Brockman claim the most valuable human skill is no longer creating, but selecting what matters. This video explores how “taste” became a new form of power: a way for AI executives and tech workers to differentiate themselves in a world flooded with algorithmic slop

I always find Alice Capella's essays really insightful and this topic has bothered me on hn for a while.

I really don't get why people here are so obsessed with "taste". I also find the premise of the article to be completely wrong. Taste, not only in software, is only the only thing that's left for humans, if you ignore the complex social environments in which our technological systems are embedded. AI puts the emphasis in the socio-technological system on the social. If you were never social to begin with, or if you deliberately ignore the social embeddedness of our systems b/c you are terminally valley pilled, you might come under the impression though that indeed, taste is the only thing that's left.
