> because nobody will have access to Carbon for a few months anyways

From Google saying that Argon would be 'available soon' (as they did just now for Carbon), it took them 13 days to release it. So... unclear that Carbon won't see the same trajectory.

... no, I don't think so? Taking payment for <X> (providing a proxy/platform for hosting/proxying to agents) doesn't mean that you're inherently liable for <Y>, if <Y> is 'bring your own key from a third-party provider'.

It's a little more than that. It seems that keys for OpenAI / Anthropic APIs that were STORED on OpenCode's OpenRouter-like backend got leaked – which additionally means that OpenCode has no ability to refund people for their losses.

That makes a ton of sense, yes! To be honest, I was wondering less about their reasons for invite-only and more about whether this kind of gentle and precise guidance with cold gas thrusters might hit ITAR.

The fact that the one that can fly is invite-only makes me wonder if there would be ITAR issues with the guidance mechanisms that they have to put into it.

I'm not saying that there aren't lower hanging fruit reasons why they wouldn't make more of those, but you can see how the guidance necessary to make this move the way that it does could be dual use.

Astra 6, you mean? 5.6 didn't have an Astra release, right?

To everyone saying not available yet: it looks from the page like Pro and Ultra subscribers have it today and given the play links, it'll probably show up in the API in a few hours.

While everyone has been worried about it becoming too easy to hack into things, something I've been worried about for the last few years is it becoming too hard to hack into things. Right now, all of these things are being broken into to be jailbroken and such, but the companies building these hardware devices have access to the models too.

It seems like a distinctly possible and sad world that they might get so much better at keeping their devices locked down by hardening them with the support of LLMs that future devices become an absolute bitch to jailbreak, even moreso than they were before.

The current state of affairs seems to be that there is 'one company racing ahead' – but it's a different company every few weeks/months. That seems like a pretty useful (unstable) equilibrium for the general public.

This really does look compelling, but it would be very nice if they wouldn't test all of the stuff on Max!

The parent are all talking about problems, and you're talking about physical infrastructure — very different things.

Really appreciate you coming in here and clarifying!

Yes, but they're wildly lower in value than the corresponding subscription usage.

I hope people notice again that this is happening this time around.

Being forced through the non-OSS Claude Code with all of its quirks and issues is... such an exhausting use of force by Anthropic.

To the extent that you _can_ choose to disable telemetry and training on your traces in CC, it's not all that obvious what they gain by crippling your ability to use the subscription with other – better – tools.

It's also remarkable that it's coincident with OpenAI adding "Sign in with OpenAI", so that you can use your tokens with other tools.
