> Is this not exactly why banks have to deposit X amount outside their doors?

Sorry, what do you mean?

-- think that's referring to bank deposit insurance schemes...

well with youtube shorts optimized for really-small screens while lectures aren't...

small screens actually encourages the worst attention-seeking media consumption

idk those reviewers must be bonkers if they actually said "larger screen is not great for productivity"

well of course larger screen is fking great for productivity

try reading book on iphone SE vs ipad mini

and then try taking scribbing on pdf slides with ipad mini vs galaxytab ultra (14.6inch)

you must have really good working memory to remember all the relevant context NOT shown in the screen with that iphone SE

(I noticed this because I read same stuff, but understood less stuff with that iphone se vs galtab ultra)

my only complaint is ultra tabs not getting bigger: I want 16+ inch scribble note

well that's cheaper than expected!

well math has always been about "understanding things" -- hence proofs and etc is the main tool in the field

(and why math differentiates between conjectures (maybe true) and theorems)

so that "oh some 3rd party person/machine understood it for me" can feel... a bit icky

> But without trying for millions of times, scientists won’t find the one drug that works.

well isn't it mostly other way around? millions of times to LOOK FOR hidden SIDE-EFFECTS?

animal testing is mostly for answering 'is it safe?'

hmm maybe this car will appear on 007?

it's "actual stunt" car

well... when you gotta jump over police car barricades...?

I mean if you're not sober, maybe it's a nice option to have

yeah but... that convention is so much of a security/bug headache

sometimes, its footguns seem worse than javascript...

hope some typescript-like "typed shell" becomes mainstream someday

> acquiring an existing team of experienced engineers and tying them with the golden handcuffs is not a bad deal

well... why not tie who's already inside the company (who you actually know about) instead of an external people (who you DON't know about)?

it's much difficult to get info about some external person, and most info is about external reputation ('the looks')

though... that's the reason job-ping-pongs work: someone outside looks better than someone inside, because of your lack of info

well Deno was the only player who could have prevented recent npm security disasters:

built-in permission system for filesystems and etc

just forbid writing to important folders like ~/.ssh

Comment · 22 days ago
well I just don't get it -- why?

unless cloudflare's CEO is a friend of cloudflare people, so just want to financially them bail out...

...why acquire and kill? cloudflare can have more outreach and reputation by keeping deno alive

Comment · 25 days ago
+ deno's file-system permission model is the answer to recent malicious npm packages fiasco:

"deny access to ~/.ssh and other important folders" --> that alone would likely have 99.99999% sterilized most "hacks"

> methods for using the level change every week or so

hmm doesn't mean noob will become better? if what I'm "learning" about AI is going to get deprecated every week... then it doesn't make sense to "keep up"
