Hey, author of the blog post here! Found this after seeing my AWS bill spike from $0.18 to $3.00 this month, lol.

Glad to see that this is still getting some enjoyment, despite the fact that is was hastily put together as joke for my friends. I will say the data and stats aren't quite up to snuff, but gets the point across. Glad people seemed to enjoy it.

Also shattered mine mtn biking (2022), and the surgeon scheduled surgery as soon as he saw the x-ray. I broke it twice as a teenager, and went through the sling route for both of those.

The craziest part about the plate is how quickly the pain from instability was relieved. I could finally sleep and honestly could've used my arm at ~80% days after surgery. I still have the plate which causes some discomfort, but I likely won’t worry about it.

In light of the article, I wonder if the plate encouraged/allowed me to use my arm in ways I wasn’t aware of. Funnily enough, it’s almost the definition of a crutch but one that allows me to use my arm more than if I was just hugging my body in an attempt to avoid that sharp pain.

Never lost my fear of the mtb, just focus on the uphill and cross country more.

Title insurance is only required, to protect the lender, when you purchase a house using a mortgage. If you choose to buy with cash, you have no obligation to purchase title insurance, but imo you’d be wise to do so.

Similarly, you are only required to have auto insurance for the damage you may cause to others. The only time you are required to insure the value of your car is when you have a loan since the lender is putting up the money/risk.

There are many great examples of when to purchase insurance and many terrible examples (phone insurance comes to mind). I would argue that much of the problem stems from people not being educated on exactly what coverage levels they’re buying.
