Understanding of the role of the gut microbiome is continually being expanded. It is resposible for a lot of important hormones, for example. It goes way beyond digestion.

Same. I have most of those listed on my table, and hardly ever use Tabasco. Too much vinegar and very one-note.

I thought Isaacson's biography was good and balanced.

Yes, comments might be my biggest gripe with CC due to what you said. 9 out of 10 of my revisions to Claude's work is deleting or rewriting comments. Such a silly thing for it to fail on.

(I do have detailed instructions for it on how to comment (or not) but it has not fixed this.)

That's why I prefer the flip format, over fold. Typing this on a Flip 3 I've had since 2021, very happy with it.

Claude would be proud.

That said, code reviews have never worked well, and it's a weird argument for wanting to preserve them.

Pairing is great and under-utilized. On one hand it's a hard sell to managers (let's use two people to do one person's job) and from the developer's point of view, it's intense and exhausting.

> The weird thing about it to me is that it lumbers on.

Perhaps it is actually useful to some people.

> Each one, taken alone, would have been a bleak, dystopian fever dream ripped from the pages of a William Gibson cyberpunk novel.

Gibson isn't really that kind of dystopian. And the Good Place reference makes no sense. The article reads like those old Time Magazine pieces by some baby boomer breathlessly trying to scare other old people.

We already have the business side come with requirements in the form of 'solutions' that they have thought up, which more often than not are Rube Golberg-esque contraptions, that you have to conversationally reverse engineer to arrive at the actual requirements.

In the future they will come with their 'ready' solution, already 'working' and be even less receptive to look at design and architecture holistically. Just make it like that. And why do you need to spend X man hours? The thing is basically already done!

It's funny how Apple has come full circle. Back in the 90s, when they were in deep crisis (before the second coming of Jobs), it was almost conventional wisdom that they should just stop selling hardware, and focus on their superior software. And here we are today when a lot of people lust for the hardware, but just can't deal with MacOS.

> the big players have their own deeply integrated solutions: Apple (iCloud), Google (Drive), Microsoft (OneDrive).

So Steve Jobs was right: Dropbox is a feature, not a product.
