Let me state some facts:

The current government has been in power for more than 8 years. Eight years. To deflect blame to a currently non existent right wing movement is real mental gymnastics on your end.

Close collaborators of the current president are in jail due to corruption, much of it from stealing from ADIF.

It's the second time in a year something like this happens.

All my thoughts go to the victims of this tragedy.

Not sure if to give credibility and we will soon know but I bet the panels they are using are 120hz rate panels, locked to 60hz. Reading it from multiple sources. No clear data we will have to wait for ifixit

They are permisionless protocols, I don’t see how they can even forbid it. It shows a level of ignorance or ingenuity which I can comprehend.

There are also memecoins which as they rise, buy the underlying stock.

Being totally naive and asking an honest question: who or are they protecting themselves from? These instruments in reality are at most paired assets but most times have nothing to do with the real stock.

For movies, 30fps is good enough, but for a screen which you interact with, the change to 120hz is dramatic. And there is no reason why they should not be adding it.

Though I think we gotta take models seriously and have safeguards around them, this is not about national security. This about frontier labs freaking out after all that DeepSeek and other non US labs are pulling off lately.

I work for a bank, and local models are banned. I have been waiting for Opus 5.5 to be enabled, and it’s still being evaluated. Things take their time, models are evaluated, and risk assessed. There is nothing new here. And I am pretty much certain such practices have been in place in critical US agencies since a while.

A blanket ban is nothing more than a desperate attempt to delay the inevitable.

Lots of downvotes for people asking questions out of ignorance.

You are right, it’s virtual impossible. You gotta trust the supplier.

You are right, anti tampering, and not even that. Air gapping protects you from other threat.

Lattice for example, has strong anti-tampering features.

Then what is the best solution aside from tightly controlling the supply chain?

I would love to know if I can use one of this to get unlimited data worldwide.

Jokes aside, keystone wallets are air gapped. And not air gapped but awesome the lesser known but imo best of all, gridplus lattice1.

Heck, even a trezor, despite their mail provider being hacked, is better.

I, however, dont endorse the iPhone idea.

Just don’t buy ledger, terrible company. Many of my friends are getting endless spam because of them. The key backup is a disaster after they promised it was not possible to retrieve it. Their software stack is closed source.

This is imo the last nail in the coffin for them. They should refund all the money lost, and issue a worldwide recall.

Lots to hate about them.

Not as fast for me. I was able to snatch a spark before the horrible price hike, and I have it at 40/50tok/sec. Before I had the great 3090 setup which is what led me to get the spark. That 3090 is now relegated to creating videos of my kids doing dumb things.

I now backordered two more sparks, before the hike... hoping they will honor the agreed price and dont cancel on me. They should arrive in a month,

Its evidently clear the frontier labs won't keep on giving us cheap inference for much longer. I also watch in disbelief how people say a sub is cheaper, which probably is. But you loose on so many other things (privacy, predictability, censorship...)

They could easily give us a system that can be easily upgraded. At least the SSD.

And I would inmediately put an order for a 256GB Mac Studio with 1TB SSD, if I were to know that SSD can be upgraded later on. I dont even mind if I have to buy premium SSD upgrades from Apple.

But locking the system in and knowing the decision is final? No thanks. And no way I am shelling 18k or whatever outrageous sum they ask for 8 extra TB.

It might be they are leaving money off the table with their greed.

Because Apple keeps on selling devices with 256GB SSD and this takes between 8-14GB of very valuable disk space, for a feature that most of us don't really use.

It doesn't help that Apple never understood what Siri is and how it should work.

Unrelated... just use your just locally installed qwen 3.8 and instruct it to figure out why you arent at 16x.

For me, I didnt know I was on 4x and I was able to, giving it enough permissions, with a good harness like PI, to figure things out and go 4x -> 8x -> 16x.

It probably will take some opening the case and switching ssds around, but it's amazing how powerful these models have become.

As somebody developing hobby apps, there are things i just can’t use. Take an example cloudflare workers. I recently worked on a poc for an app. I ended up hosting it at home due to the uncertainty.

The caps were very generous but I wasn’t going to spend a minute worrying about what if a malicious actor took over
