Holy Smokes!

My trusty M1 Max went full bonkers immediately. GPU temps spiked at 101°C and both CPU and CPU showed 100% workload. Also probably the first time this year the fans went on.

That is true, the French (as opposed e.g. the Germans, they blend different varieties much less) in particular do this, and they do it well. So yes, strictly speaking these are blended wines as well. But seldomly any wine maker in France would buy them; it all comes from their own parcels, and these blends are well established flavor profiles. They know their own grapes and what they can do with it.

If you do really high volumes you buy, sure. But again, it's of no surprise if these manufacturers experience a decline of demand.

Very interesting how different the experiences can be from one continent to another. But then again, who cares for American wine (certainly not the Euros).

Coming from Europe I'm used to see that every vineyard makes their own wine. Seeing grapes become such a commodified thing is a bit weird, I must say. Buyers of these will probably by definition make blended wines, which are not really held in high regards. People who drink wine are usually quite demanding about their drink.

So yeah, I'm surprised the farmers just let go of their produce instead of making a wine themself, if they think the vintage is so great.

It is true tho that regular wine has been in decline; nobody (aka the younger folks) wants that Monsanto-flavored and sulfured wine anymore, so natural wine has been a big craze and also more funky flavours are swiftly taking ground. Sure, the quantities are different, for many reasons - having less money in the pocket being one of them.

I don't get it. Finder is okay. Yes, there are some idiosyncracies, but once you got to know them (e.g. when coming over from Windows), it's smooth sailing - and much better than the Explorer.

Why is seemingly every single person on HN unhappy with the Finder?

I can't stand it. It's really not a nice reading experience.

Before AI we had better writers and worse writers, but it was always profoundly human. The voice is completely lost and everything reads as this garbled mess.

Was about to say the same. It's really a slideshow – and that being on an M1! Can't imagine how much worse it probably is on Windows.

Very cool project, but obviously missing (too) many great castles. I'm not sure if that way of measuring popularity is really well done.

Just hoping the maildir and proper Gmail-like threading comes soon finally.

Dumbcad line barf will not help you with that at all.

There already is a format that is plain text and preserves the semantics: IFC. That's what it was made for.

I concur. I had "inherited" the sets of my 10 years older brother, and they where a pain to play with. It was sometimes impossible to separate the pieces, especially if it were plates with no leverage and nothing to grip.

Another note to add here: The whole system was stupid, too! What do you mean, I can only give answers, but not comment?

While there is much more to say about SO's demise, the "interaction" on the platform was definitely not one of its strengths, either.

Does anybody know which edition with the cheerful footnotes is referred here?

So weird that this is nowhere stated on the website at all. Was literally the first and only thing I was interested in. So bad.
