I work at OpenAI, and I get the concern. From our side, this was a careful tradeoff: Electron lets us iterate faster and makes it possible to bring the Codex app to Windows and Linux very soon. That doesn’t mean performance or UX don’t matter—we’re actively paying attention to both.
Would genuinely love your thoughts if you try it. Early users have been surprised by how native it feels!

Good question! VS Code is still a great place for deep, hands-on coding with the Codex IDE extension.
We built the Codex app to make it easier to run and supervise multiple agents across projects, let longer-running tasks execute in parallel, and keep a higher-level view of what’s happening. Would love to hear your feedback!

I work at Stripe and built this demo, thanks for your interest! This sample StdLib app only showcases one-off payments, but subscriptions are easy to implement with Stripe: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/quickstart.

I work at Stripe on Developer Relations. On the client side, using a library is important to ensure that sensitive card data never hits your servers so you don't have to worry about PCI compliance. On your question about the API, since you're using Firebase, have you looked at Google Cloud Functions? The Firebase team put together some examples [0] to accept payments with Stripe easily from your apps by simply calling functions. Please let me know if that's close or different to what you had in mind.
