One of the long withstanding issues with Python 3 has been that some of the major libraries have yet to support it. I think this is great news for the Python community. Hopefully more will follow suit soon.

If you have an Automatic and want to use both, this will be a no go since each will need to use the OBD II port in your car.

It's definitely snappier and now looks responsive too! Thanks for the hard work kogir et al!

Besides offering lossless quality images, JPEGmini allows a much larger file size. Compressor.io only appears to allow 10MB files, which if you're trying to use it for photography, it won't be very useful because the jpeg's produced by a Canon 5D Mark III are about 20MB-30MB in size. It is also only web based, whereas JPEGmini has a native client. Compressor.io looks promising though.

I'd go out on a limb and say that anyone who's been President of the United States is smarter than you (or almost everyone). It takes a lot of intellect and masterful knowledge of the political and social systems to become President. However, is George W. Bush smarter than the 42 other Presidents before him?

I'm glad that the author of this article didn't try to justify that claim. He definitely had more resources and technology available to him than the previous 42, so one could argue that a bit, but as far as raw intellect, I wouldn't say so. That's a hard argument to win.

Nice. I'd love to see templates so you can easily customize depending on what kind of environment you want so you can start from zero. E.g. 1. Development 2. Design 3. Engineering 4. Management 5. General use

It's probably just me, but it seems like all of these require too much investment time before you have something usable for future use (replicating your current environment).

Which brings me to this, how about a script that analyzes what you already have installed and creates this set up for you which you can customize to easily add/remove packages/apps/installers using Boxen and similar? Anyone know of such tools? My MBP is full of crud after using SuperDuper!/Time Machine for several years to start new macbook setups and installing new versions of OS X on top of the old OS.

This is neat. I think it'd be pretty awesome if it were possible to download all the dmg's/installers/apps in a folder/drive without installing them so at a later date you could a) install everything without having to wait hours to download or require an internet connection and b) keep your packages up to date (almost as a backup) running the script every once in a while to make sure you have the most up to date packages/installers.

I think this is the first time in recent history that a company actually took care of its users after acquisition. Most of the time after the deadline to export your content, it's a big "fuck you" to the customer. At least Loom is making it easy to transfer content to Dropbox and is providing users with the same space on Dropbox as well free for a year. I can respect that.

This almost seems too good to be true. Can you stream .MKV files too? Looks like there's no iOS or native apps yet. I guess we just use our browser and stream directly?

IMO, Crashplan's service is terrible. On a university network I was never able to max out my upload. With BackBlaze I was able to max it out. Crashplan's built on Java, which is the reason for the RAM usage, while BackBlaze is native to OS X and Windows.

I believe the free plan allows you to export up to 5 times.

Rejection is inevitable. If you're not rejected now, somewhere down the road you will be. If you haven't been rejected, get practice in getting rejected. If you have been rejected, feel the frustration and use it as motivation to prove whoever rejected you wrong.

The best analogy I can find for this is that applying to YC is like trying to pick up a girl or asking her out on a date. (I know many of us have yet to try, too). Get over the fear of rejection, and put yourself out there. Will your way to success. YC is like the smartest, most beautiful woman with the amazing personality everyone falls in love with (well, there's always the haters). Don't give up. Exercise, eat right, sleep, and strive to be better. You never know, one day that beautiful woman might actually say yes.

(To all the women on HN, replace girl/woman with guy/man and beautiful with handsome.)
