Interesting, so someone just downvoted every otherwise unrelated post I've made in the last day or two. That's quite some OCD you've got going there.

As a tactic though it's a bit like tracers, they work in both directions.

> the Gulf of Mexico

It's the Gulf of America, and since Trump wanted to claim it it's now also his mess to clean up. In the meantime, Mexico should send him the bill for their cleanup of his gulf.

The water-hammer effect, or in this case electron-hammer effect, is why you don't reboot every Windows server in the data center at exactly 2am, to stagger the load shift over time. Surprised that the power guys didn't realize that switching a presumably multi-hundred-MW load in and out at the top of each minute would cause a problem.

> Which hobby do you think is most diverting and pleasurable?

Well I'm not sure it really counts as a hobby as such, but it's definitely "diverting and pleasurable".

>that wierd lamb flatbread

Hangikjöt? Look up how it's made, if it's done the proper/traditional way.

That's what I experienced last night on the way through the city on the train, as far as I could tell Helloween consists of groups of skanks throwing fake blood at each other while swearing loudly. One or two children in costumes, but mostly that. Hopefully the stuff is water-based so it can be hosed away.

I've always found the NUT setup process to be ridiculously complicated. Here's the setup under Windows (and I'm no fan of Windows, I mean who is?):

1. Plug in UPS.

2. Battery icon appears.

Here's the same setup process under Linux:

1. Plug in UPS.

2. Spend ages messing around with config files and accounts and network ports and names and options and another set of config files and even more config files and clients and servers and services and even more config files and more account settings.

3. Sometimes things work.

Why is it so ridiculously complicated to set up? For 99.9% of users they're plugging in a glorified battery, why does it need a full-blown client-server architecture with dozens of settings and options to do it?

Friends of mine found some unknown seeds in a rental they'd just moved into and planted it. When they saw what sprouted they decided they should probably burn the evidence, slowly, one bud at a time.

Anyone else remember the WarmTek Hedgehog? The Kanie was better-known but wasn't really as much of a hedgehog design.

Airflow is typically measured for worst-case scenarios or not measured at all but just something pulled off a datasheet and then they install the cheapest fan they can find that meets the specs. My SOP is to open the case, get thermal readings, drop in a Noctua, and keep dropping the voltage while taking thermal readings to make sure nothing is getting too hot. I've got an NVR where I've dropped the speed to the lowest at which it will still start and it's still blowing cold air through the vents, so the 40mm screamer that was there initially was total overkill.

You can also get non-Noctua hydrodynamic bearing fans with polycarbonate blades and silicone mounts which are supposed to be very quiet, but I've never compared one against a Noctua. Anyone done a comparison?

Europe tells Pentagon va te faire cuire un œuf, and something about a roi des cons. Pentagon is confused because it's not in American.

> The US already spends more than the EU (combined) on hydrology and civil engineering.

They also spend more than the EU on healthcare.

Seems to be a pattern emerging here...
