while sitting on a cab a few weeks ago, i was watching other large trucks passing through, and i was wondering about what it would be like if these trucks were entirely made by bots, would travelling on roads feel less safer? when you know that the existing old stuff is made by humans and most humans who are good at their work genuinely put in effort and care in their craft, can we say the same about work generated by clankers? Really got me wondering, still split on if all this AI hype will be a net good in the long run. Sure you're more productive and end up spitting out more code, as long as its non critical SaaS stuff, who cares if things go wrong right? for crucial, mission critical stuff, relying only on AI autonomously, especially when they are still prone to make errors, seems like a very dystopian reality. Just today claude code hallucinated the first name of a person because in the username the first name was one letter.

I had my vm's price increase by around 30% percent as well but they did communicate it and the reason for it being the global ram prices going up. Even then I think hetzner is pretty good, not a lot of good cloud providers keep the port 25 open.

This sounds like a really interesting story, would like to read more on why half life 2 specifically? the game itself was pretty well optimized and ran on really low end hardware even back in the day.

I’ve made a submission. I think as time passes there will be a niche for curated content thats free from AI slop.

Have you read Ray Kurzweil's how to create a mind? His definition of our mind is something similar along the lines. Pattern matching/ predictions are all that we do, according to him. I didn't think we'd come so far when I read it a few years ago. Agi seems like a real possibility now and I think I should consider developing some skills besides being able to write php.

Laravel has been great so far for me, I don't think js has any frameworks that are as good. Curious to know how django compares to laravel.

Didn't think I'd find something like this on hn. Good luck to you mate. I'm on the journey too. Almost 2 years now, was on the verge of brink and posted something on hn to which Dan, the moderator emailed me and told me to hang in there. At the time had no one, still keep a small circle and no immediate family. His words gave me strength to survive and possibly how I ended up in recovery instead of the other side.

this as well as indexing by search engines, i found some wonderful perspectives about rails for example from hn comments, things which were much better than any seo optimized content that you find now.

wow, that was some incredible performance, never thought php could be this fast, I was in a dilemma on what language to focus on as an ordinary dev, think I'll stick with php for a while longer.
