On a related note.. The JDK developers could learn a thing or two from Scala, which comes with the really handy scala-cli. The JDK should have something similar.

I saw this on Reddit, and as expected, the replies from the Java community were quite hostile. Sometimes it feels like Java developers have never left their own ecosystem and have never seen how easy some things (like deployment) are on other platforms. Especially Java's way of deploying applications has hindered not only Java but also alt JVM languages like Kotlin and Scala.

What a bunch of nonsense.

> Project Valhalla will go into Java 28

Unfortunatley without specialized generics and without the performance benefits that are supposed to come with it. They were too slow with Valhalla.

Wasn't Go supposed to be "simple"? I remember how Go advocates used to boast about not having generics and now it almost seems like Go is trying to become some sort of C# or Java Frankenstein. I'm not even trying to badmouth Golang - just legitimately confused.

That's great, even though specialized generics are still missing. I think these improvements will be especially beneficial for Scala, because it is such a powerful language, but abstracting on the JVM comes at a heavy price.
