Better block than falsify information. Last I heard they were deliberately botching it whenever someone asked semi-advanced questions on model training.

Agreed. Take human out and any system capable of doing an if-else is intelligent to a certain degree.

I feel like the real reason for this has just been that everything moved to GitHub issues as people could directly talk to the devs/maintainers.

There are a bunch of things that could be tried honestly. Like geometric mean, top-N, or even fitting another classifier on the training set.

I really enjoyed the Dark Forest. I agree with you that the first part is SUCH A CHORE. But after the pace picks up, the payoff is amaxing!

When are we getting another pro model from Gemini? Or are they simply focusing on the niche of fast but moderately capable models?

I think they are largely uncorrelated, in fact I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that they are anti-correlated. James Maxwell, who everyone regards as absolute genius, was a famously bad teacher. My own grad experience also adds that an absolute beast of a researcher is not necessarily the best teacher. I believe the term "curse of knowledge" is popular enough that it suggests people who are way too deep into their abstractions seldom rise above it when it comes to communication. Hence the stereotype of nerds being socially awkward and hard to communicate with.
