I think it bothers OP less that they take a 15% tax than the fact that google provides terrible support for their own play store. If they would take that tax and provide good feedback and speedy version reviews, nobody would ever complain - it is expected to pay something since the play store doesn't run on good thoughts and prayers. But because they're a monopoly (or a duopoly if you count apple, which is a different platform altogether) they can afford to act this way.

Great job with this project, I bet there are VFP apps still running or even DOS FP apps.

This takes me back to the first commercial software i ever worked on around 19 years ago, it was an accounting software written in Visual FoxPro. It's a super easy language to get started with programming and the fact that you can drag your widgets on the screen helps a lot. I remember using hungarian notations too. In hindsight that's both good and bad, because the moment you move to another language that doesn't offer an IDE where you can drag widgets with your mouse on the screen to position them and you have to work with containers, programmatically, you quickly realize how little you really know about creating UIs with forms. I don't think i had an opinion back then if VFP was good or bad but I remember the IDE would crash when you tried to build your project sometimes with a pop-up that would say "Catastrophic failure!". I always thought that was super funny and to this day i still have the screenshot. I think about a year or so before they killed it, they releases SP2 which was a bit more stable.

there's already a better alternative, it's called starlark.

i'm not good with paper work, in fact, i'm horrible with anything that's paperwork related. for the past few days, i ran this model on my rtx 4090 + rtx 3070 and told it to check all the bills, invoices, contracts for me and my small company. i used pi with llama and the pi-llama plugin. oh, boy - i hooked it to my email, told it to download all of the invoices and bills i had for both me and my company and organize them by company/date/ and then merge them with the ones i have locally. it did ocr, wrote scripts, organized everything neatly. i am now the most organized i've ever been in my life. Next: RAG on all the documents and bills i have. if you connect staan-search (there is a pi plugin for that) and ctx7 to this it almost does miracles. the downside is i have to sit next to my noisy threadripper as the magic happens and pay for the electricity, but that's about it, i'll gladly do that. and as i finished this paragraph, it also finished organizing all my personal documents on my san. i don't use the expression "game changer" easily, but it's hard to resist in this case. out of all the models i've used locally qwen3.8:27b blows everything out of the water.

my setup

# Logical CUDA0 = RTX 4090, logical CUDA1 = RTX 3070 export CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=0,1

cd ~/projects/misc/llama.cpp/

exec ./build/bin/llama-server -hf ggml-org/Qwen3.8-27B-GGUF:Q4_K_M --mmproj /xx/xx/xx/xx/xx/mmproj-Qwen3.8-27B-Q8_0.gguf --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8080 --jinja --parallel 1 --split-mode layer --tensor-split 6,1 --fit on -fa on -c 98304 -ctk q8_0 -ctv q8_0 --image-min-tokens 1024

i load more on the 4090 because it's faster.

usually the temp stays around 65 for both. utilization for 4090: 70-90% 3070: 30-50%. I get around 30-40 tk/s. if i offload more to the 4090 the tk/s goes up, but i stress the card too much and that thing now is worth its weight in gold.

note: the pi-llama plugin needs a patch for pi to send the model vision capabilities, seems it doesn't work out of the box.

you'd be amazed how many do just that and are incredibly bad at anything else that does not involve opening up an IDE that spoon feeds them everything they need.

For offline use I use pocket earth https://pocketearth.com/ I'm pleased with it, it's one of the best out there.

Carplay is a convenient - FREE solution to car infotainment that car makers cannot control. They cannot sell you subscription based services for in-car stuff if you can get that from another app, and that's not in their interest. The CEO here knows well what he's saying is BS. We are lucky if something like Carplay will survive in the car subscription based era. They might charge you for the use of Carplay in the future, or free access to their infotainment that is complemented by subscritions. Car makers sell cars with thin margins so they need to find ways to increase them.

i've been using hackfeed, it does the job.

make this available on testflight, this looks great, would love to daily drive it.

+1 for the accessibility features, great job!

i did something like this, but somewhat in reverse. you are the one that reviews the code and you instruct AI what to do through code review comments: https://parley.cloudflavor.io.

thinking about it, it would be funny to first run alibaba's tool and then run parley after.

posted it here a few days ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48369782 i guess with AI there are too many Show HN now, and i never got any type of feedback.
