Well sure, and if you only shower once, you’ll quickly get dirty again. Cleanliness takes constant effort.

If Google is going for the casual group of users, why do they make their AI offerings so hard to buy?

Wesnoth is great if you like games where you have to create and exploit situational advantages. Using advantageous terrain, the day/night cycle, and varied unit types makes it one of the most tactical games I’ve played.

“A literal handful of antimater particles” would be quite potent, even if your hands are very tiny.

I mean, why play games on expensive hardware when there’s decades of critically acclaimed games that will run on hardware like your phone? There are more great games out there than any one person can reasonably play.

It’s not technically or financially viable. AAA games are already too expensive to create, and this increases the complexity by an order of magnitude. And that’s before the latency problems that make the game less fun, and therefore more likely to bomb.

As always, MOST people don’t hate AI, they hate slop. Slop has always existed in video games, it’s just faster to create now. So, so much faster.

Snap apps also have preposterous security settings, like Inkscape only being able to load SVGs from certain paths on my system. It’s a file editor, it should be able to edit files, period.

More and more indie games rely on a well-optimized, unique mechanic (factory builders, voxel engines, etc.) and pushing that to the extreme.

Trying to vibe code such algorithms generally yields results that are not suitable for realtime gaming performance. I’m sure they’ll get there, but saying “make it fast” without carefully directing the algorithm design causes LLMs to add hack on hack on hack, creating a slow, spaghetti code monstrosity.

Surely this is because good spies don’t make the news.

If any one major player bows out, they could take everyone else out by opening up their model. There’s definitely a little bit of MAD going on.

It’s going to take a modern war between superpowers to convince nations that appliances shouldn’t be a ubiquitous security vulnerability.

Surely there is a point where algorithmic improvements will be more cost effective than buying more hardware.

Is it really AGI if it can’t come to my address and slap me with a trout? Clearly AI is all hype /s

I’m working on an OpenStreetMap-powered map generator in Godot, this would probably be quite easy to build.
