Wow I couldn't agree more with this point. You put it perfectly. I worked alone and later with one other developer on a project and it felt way more productive than my current team of 5 developers!

Despite your negative tone, I think you have a point. There are many project like this. I'm working on another one at the moment and I have compiled a long list of similar projects. There is definitely a need for a tool that can create UIs visually. IMO such a tool needs to have interoperability with code, as in changes to the code reflect in the tool and changes in the tool make reflect back in the code.

We haven't succeeded in creating an intuitive and robust enough tool that accomplishes this, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible. It's a technical challenge which can be overcome.

I have come across this before, searching for a particular problem but not finding the relevant Github issue in google's search results, which made me search using Github's own search functionality inside the relevant repo to find what I'm looking for. I'm not sure why google wouldn't be indexing Github issues though

It's amazing how many alternative computing platforms started and died in the 90s.

I definitely agree with this article and believe that life is short, but it's also a good idea to relax and not worry about it all too much. I think the relaxing and having a piece of mind is undervalued by most people. It helps you have a better quality life however short it is. Remember that the time you spend on worrying about how short it is is also part of your life which you are kind of wasting. Having said that I agree that we should consider the bullshit in our life and cut in favor of things that we really want to do, because at the end life is to short for that.

I don't understand why is there a need for loading delay when a style property is changed. Applying CSS styles to a html element should take effect almost instantly.

This article says nothing about how software engineering is a "bullshit job". Her only point that comes close is that she once worked at a job where she was building a pointless website, but that only makes her job in that instance "bullshit".

Look all around you and you see almost endless ways that digital systems are transforming and running our lives, every single one of those needed to be engineered, designed and tested by someone, which could have been a software engineer. I think it wouldn't be an overstatement to stay without software engineers our modern life would be impossible.

I often hear complaining that they are going to leave software engineering because of a flawed list of problems, while the real problem lies in their perception of what the profession should be.

IMO software engineering is about solving challenging technical problems, and not necessarily what is created in the process. A lot of what a software engineer does is not apparent in the end result, but is absolutely necessary to get those programs, systems or applications running.

I think there are far worst professions out there, which in comparison achieve so little to SWE.

Working hours does not make any job a "bullshit" one, and the working hours and the pay grade of a SWE are obviously far better than most job. The parts of the article talks about SWE from a completely biased and personal view, which almost have no value to the reader.

This page crashes on chromium before you even have the opportunity to read half of the article. I wonder if there is a memory leak or it's just the GIF implementation in chromium.
