Got my Minibook X U300 yesterday and I’m facing the same issues. Please share your findings as you go, this a cool little machine for Linux.

Even some updates will trigger the acceptance screen from time to time, with a second scare confirmation shown when I reject. If my wife or kids were shown that screen when I’m not around they would accept it.

Arthur C. Clarke wrote a non-fiction book about this, I think it is called Voice Across the Sea. I read it many years ago and found it very good.

If Meta refuses to back down and removes news from the feed, could that actually be a net positive? It might push people to visit newspaper sites or apps deliberately, rather than stumbling across news passively and mistaking that for being informed.

As a father of 3, I’m kind of guilty of that prejudice myself.

It is not towards Brazilians themselves, which I frankly respect, but because of the low quality stuff my kids are exposed to on the internet. You just can’t avoid it and of having the kids gravitate towards YouTube instead of better entertainent channels.

Random dumb YouTubers doing shit for giggles and overly sexualized funk music. And the shorts, oh the shorts crap everywhere, in all languages.

I don’t have a problem with my kids watching “manual do mundo” or “Paula stefania”. Or “porta dos fundos” myself. Good stuff.

On the other hand, Apple developer relations suports Brazilian Portuguese only, when they do not distinguish between variants of English, French and Spanish: I had to submit an English translation of a plain simple and clear document because my Portuguese version was rejected.

Reminds me of Carl Sagan’s Contact, where Haden, the millionaire funding Ellie’s work, made a TV ad blocker and then sued the TV companies when they refused to play ads for his product.

I wonder if that is what will happen next.

Short videos, stories, etc. I refuse getting addicted to them. Terrifying watching everyone around me consuming the stuff like we are in a crack house.

Congratulations on shipping. I had a similar idea a while ago after noticing a company at beach using multiple stop-watches to keep track of people renting kayaks and jetskis.
