If the team is familiar with Functional Programming concepts, I'd actually suggest
available_servers = (server for server in servers if server.check_availability())
primary_server = next(available_servers, backup_server)
deploy_application(primary_server)

Maybe hijacking the thread, but if you prefer to stay in the browser give also a try to Virtual Json Viewer extension [1][2]. I developed it to navigate large json files at work and it also integrates JQ.
