Thanks for explaining this, reading this in the article made me concerned as a parent.

The post seems to refer to a very specific subset of demoscene:

> I came across Dwitter.net, which is like Twitter but for 140 character JavaScript demos. They already supported “remix”-ing any dweet so that we can build on top of them.

Using an earlier title of the video as current one (“Competition, Intensity & Building a $115 Billion Global Bank | Nik Storonsky, Revolut“) is too long for HN submission.

Got your point. Is it because Apple is the biggest vendor that does not allow that and you believe they should as any other or because you like iPhones, are happy with owning one but want (reasonably) to have full control over device that you own?

> There are a number of phones available that can just do calls and nothing else.

iPhone is this phone. Easiest to use, customer-friendly, options for limiting apps, large icons etc.

But for some reason, despite the dominance of Android phones on the market, custom smartphones being released almost every month, you want the foolproof layer to be stripped from iPhone. Why?

I assume you didn’t have experience of your older relatives being targeted by professional criminals. I’m not talking about online honeytraps, in some countries these gangs will mix offline and online schemes (e.g. pretending to be social workers, driving my grandma to the bank, buying her a new smartphone to get access to her online banking, which were stopped by her luckily “forgetting” her current smartphone/banking PIN code).

That’s for Eastern Europe. I heard a similar line of reasoning for banning rooted phones in Asia and it’s easy for me to relate to that. It seems as if first-world hackers here just don’t grasp how low criminals can and will go.

> work only happens when in crisis mode That’s a textbook case of ADHD behavior where one can only do things when urgency hits a threshold. It seems as if you are concerned that medication may remove this urgency, resulting in zero work done at all. Positive scenario is that you would not need the urgency to deal with what you deem important.

Sharing my account as a fellow ADHDer that cycled through some drugs.

I ended up with 30mg Elvanse (European analog of Vyvanse). That’s minimum dosage possible: I was prescribed higher before but side effects made it uncomfortable.

Alternatives that didn’t work: - Dextroamphetamine pills, immediate release: short effect, jittery, pronounced crash - Ritalin: feeling of being overstimulated and uncomfortable, inability to focus - Strattera: closer to an antidepressant, sexual side effects (no pleasure when ejaculating), brain zaps

From personal experience: anorgasmia (? Absence of pleasure when ejaculating), brain zaps

“Bad Blood” by the journalist who broke the story while Theranos was peaking

I probably misunderstood the context. Both checking life signs on, say, a headless body or imitating the check for the sake of bureaucracy sound equally terrible :(

Nicely summarized by another commentator:

“FOI is for administrative documents to increase transparency in government. Detailed 3D scans a museum does for research or preservation isn't an administrative document.

If you want a 3d scan of these statues, there's a lot of them around in scannable places like parks etc. If you just want to win, you're wasting everyone's time for no good reason.”

To put it differently, imagine the museum trained a RodinGPT on artworks and other data. The activist now bases his claim to the model on the fact that the model is a document.

Absolutely. An “activist” wasting time and money of museums (and probably taxpayers) worldwide due to a misleading interpretation of FOI.
