This is generally how I feel - whenever new levels of abstraction have been introduced the goal posts for what can be built are now orders of magnitude further. This seems to be the case with all technology.

Consider assembly -> higher order languages -> libraries -> open source -> stack overflow -> now AI.

I've used these tunnels all the time when I wasn't at my computer. Insanely helpful when doing agentic work on the go

Maybe it's just me but you stand to gain a lot more from reading comprehension than outsourcing the same set of files repeatedly to a machine.

I'd rather not entire generations get the brunt of a entire class of problems (generations prior had significant health consequences). The best thing a society can do it seems is educate ourselves on what is damaging. When social media first came out no one was talking about what's happening now. Hard to see that very early on before it became a significant problem then aligned with corporate incentives.

As a moderate, I tend to think things even out eventually - though it is usually what appears to be generational shifts in behavior that causes markets to adapt. It's costly (whole generations get f'd physically/mentally/financially), but the next generation (maybe?) pushes for something different idk

Precisely, this is the point. There is systemic misalignment that encourages companies to behave this way.

He's not going to willingly shutdown his company, the same reason a casino will not just suddenly close up shop. The owner would have to have a dramatic shift in worldview to delete the whole thing.

As though we haven't done enough already to manipulate the mind, now we can have a neural model dictate our thoughts for us.
