Sure, but housing is far higher on the hierarchy of human needs than RAM, so it’s apples and oranges (not to mention the other absurdities of Altman’s position which are too numerous to mention).

(copied from my Twitter account):

This is precisely why I killed my Anthropic subscription in favour of a (more expensive and probably less intelligent) Codex sub.

The false positives were bad enough, but the true positives are unacceptable too. Shameless greed and an attempt to stifle competition.

I find the number of children killed by human drivers repulsive.

> Take Muhammad, a fresh arrival from Syria, who drives a taxi. What will his next job be that is that easy and he already knows how to do?

Remotely operating a taxi (or some other semi-autonomous robot) from Syria?

> China forces its citizens to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.

As someone who lived there for 5 years, this is laughable and totally untrue.

I'm guessing you heard that some tech companies have a 996 policy and inferred that the government is somehow imposing this on every single worker in China.

Why apologies to Meta? If that is the source, Meta are the ones fingerprinting browsers and inadvertently disclosing details. That's their FU, not Wipr.

If you live outside China or Taiwan, you are much more at risk of being bombed or threatened by the USA.

The Chinese government is pretty despicable, but it's mostly focused inwards. 200 dead schoolgirls in Iran would tell you that for everyone else, the USA poses the much bigger risk.

Last I checked, Uber underperformed the S&P index since its IPO. Even Softbank didn't make a great return on its investment. The growth story was definitely oversold.

Also, Uber was peak ZIRP + COVID, money was cheap and growth was easy. I think the mountain to climb is a lot steeper now.

Bet you they won't, because many (most?) Singaporeans think that owning a car is somehow a life achievement.

Thanks! Hope it was helpful.

There's a difference between "this is allowed under their ToS" and "it is academically unethical to fail to credit the people whose specific conversations were fed into a model that was used to solve a problem".

I don't think these people would be so miffed if they had been properly credited - that's how academia works (at least, that's my understanding of it).

> Dart is a really _ugly_ language with lots of tiny annoyances. Its as if someone took worst parts of Java and Javascript and turned them into a language. Terrible to write, terrible to read, terrible to use.

While I’m a bit ambivalent towards Flutter, I totally disagree with you on Dart. To me it’s a better version of Java/Typescript with a very mature cross-platform and JIT/AOT compiler. Admittedly there are some things I wish they would take from TS (like discriminated unions), and I haven’t tried “modern” Java either so maybe that’s improved, but even so, I rarely feel like Dart is getting in the way.

> how come Impeller still wasn't the default engine for all platforms

Because Impeller has had quite a bumpy ride. Even as recently as June I reported a bug/regression with basic stuff (lines with partial transparency on desktop). All my Android apps are still built with --no-enable-impeller because I've had many instances where the app just shows a blank screen due to driver conflicts.

It may be getting close to stable now, but it wasn't a smooth transition at all.
