I became a Proton visionary after I interacted with them here on HN. They took PGP really seriously and addressed my very specific concerns.

I don't care about the AI use bur I'm very sad to learn they won't be "lovingly" crafting their products anymore. Less craftsmanship and attention to detail can't be good.

Thankfully, owning a domain makes switching providers easy.

Shocking...

Brazilian supreme court has made extradition requests to the US after they granted asylum to journalists critical of the court and its judges. All such requests were denied, even though Biden was in power.

The political asylum I can understand. If he stayed he'd have been judged by Lula's supreme court.

But this letter just came out of nowhere and I have no idea what he or Trump stand to gain from it. Now I'm wondering if Trump is going to back him and claim the elections were cheated. Midterms move? Use Bolsonaro and Brazil as an example?

Brazilian telecom regulation agency Anatel just made facial recognition mandatory to get a mobile number.

The year hasn't even ended yet.

Yeah, this is just crazy.

What... I thought Trump had all but recognized the results. He said it looked stolen but that he liked Lula all the same.

Is Trump actually going to do something?

Every single politician is a crook. Take Janones, for example, the guy who set up "Lula's Army". He's admitted to the same "rachadinha" that people hold over Flávio's head.

https://noticias.stf.jus.br/postsnoticias/stf-homologa-acord...

> Janones admitiu a “rachadinha” em seu gabinete.

When you stack the courts with judges friendly to you, then it's obvious only your enemies are going to be judged, and that it isn't going to be a fair trial.

When you then order a seizure of your opponent's passports seven minutes after he loses an election against you, it's pretty difficult to interpret that as anything other than an attempt to put your opponent in jail for the crime of running against you.

The whole point of electing this guy was to impeach the out of control judges. The same judges who are now gunning for him. They will obviously act to make him regret ever challenging their power, so that nobody ever does it ever again.

Even the most radical extreme left wing party in Brazil, PCO, called it political persecution. Literal trotskyist communists called it political persecution...

It's already been done. The left used to refer to right wing social media organization as "digital militias". The "soldiers" were called "cattle". Pretty ironic to witness the formation of a "Lula's Army" now. They even recruited here on HN.

The right wing was extensively censored in 2022 despite political censorship being unconstitutional. Lula promised to "regulate" social media next year. I'm seeing leftists talking about "shutting up" people on social media. It's becoming increasingly clear what's going to happen in the near future.
