> "This first wave of AI spam is easy enough to identify — they all vaguely agree with something you said in the blog post, and then link to some shady, scammy AI video thing."

Apart from the 'AI video thing' this type of spam is something I wrote about in November 27, 2007.

https://akismet.com/blog/it-really-is-spam/ the first part of which is "Back when spamming started it was a very crude business. Comments left would consist of many links around one subject – “Buy my porn” or “Buy my pills.” These posts were very obviously spam and blog owners deleted them when they saw them. At some point the spammers changed tactics.

Everyone likes a compliment and we all like to think that what we write is interesting — the spammers are targeting that vanity."

Not related to a README, but very much related to how programmers / creators speak (by which I mean type).

My way in to WordPress support back in 2004 was decoding answers to others from Photomatt and others.

A user would ask a question about WordPress and, for example, Photomatt would answer. His answer was always correct. Technically correct. But it didn't land for the question asker. They would reply with .. 'What?'

I would then replay with "What Matt has said is right, and this is what he means, this is the answer"

I gave them the information they needed in words they could understand.

It was not Matt's fault, it was not the user's fault.

It was translating in a way.

Years ago I worked inside Akismet - https://akismet.com - which is an Automattic product.

Akismet, along with user chosen comment moderated lists in 'Comments > Discussion' would not publish certain comment content.

For example, you put 'bad' in to your moderation list and if someone wrote 'badger' your comment was moderated, and probably deleted.

Various sites had "Copy this Bad Words List"

There was/is a medication called cialis

Lots of spam - email, web, comment, used those 6 letters

There was a HUGE amount of comments caught that used socialist, socialism in the US elections.

Where on earth do you get 'a hint of Sharia Law' from?

Why are you adding something not mentioned to steer the conversation?

First happened upon NFS around 2005. I have long admired their terms, their FAQ, the whole shebang. Currently have two sites hosted with them for the sole reason that they are not EIG and I feel confident that were the targets of those two sites (and they are not offensive, just opinionated) to complain to NFS that my sites would not be affected in any way. For years now that has proved true.

I saw this in my feed reader this morning and my first thought was "How do you get a Urinary Tract Infection in an OS?"

I have 9000+ games on Steam and many others on EA, Ubisoft etc. Value is zero.

I recently catalogued and valued my physical game collection across multiple consoles. Value is over £10,000 and that value will only go up as time passes.

Why is this better than using the !g DDG bang after the initial search?
