To be honest Postgres and DuckDB are on my lists to really get my hands dirty with.

One of the more interesting talks I read about was how someone used MySQL's bin log to mirror a lakehouse different versions of data and used DuckDB as the compute layer of a lakehouse. I think the talk was held in South America, so I didn't get to go.

Postgres is just useful for pretty much everything it seems like lol. Knowing they work together so well makes for a side project to learn both.

Ha, I was told to avoid blobs/texts columns like the plague, I guess that explains why

Very interesting, the more I learn about InnoDB, the more I'm impressed. I guess I haven't encountered a column value that's bigger than 8KiB in an InnoDB database yet.

DuckDB's come up a lot since I started my little journey to be honest.

Everything I've read says you're absolutely right about the performance boost lol. It very well may be the next piece I check out, thank you.

Cool to see agent communication via a database plus trigger based execution and checker agents

First it was .com, then it was blockchain, now it's si. A company is about to triple its value with a rename. At least this gives the companies some room to play.

Kinda funny a chatbot threatening its users was the breaking point for them to see "AIs would overtake humans as the dominant intelligence". I would've thought it would be benchmarks or AI cleanly solving unsolvable math problems.

I guess that means fear is a better motivator than demos.

Big fan of the work moves upstream framing, find the source and fix it instead of treating the symptoms.

Reading through log dumps used to be incredibly tedious and time demanding, now it can be automated to show me the interesting events, which highlights the importance of judgement. I think it'll be interesting to see how the industry adapts to teaching juniors that judgement.

It was something I never thought about until I lost my first drive. And agreed on human error, I killed the second drive by running the second scrub.
