The game has quite the AI smell, which I think does it a disservice. The website feels AI designed, the game (transparently) uses AI graphics; it's hard to tell where the line between handcrafted and generated lies. Immediate question that shoots in my mind is: "How much of the game design is just LLM hallucinations?" As someone who's played around with using AI for games too, this makes me not even want to give the game a chance. Which is a shame, because I think the concept is really cool. Its just tainted by something that subconciously signals me that you dont really care much about your creation.

I'd say this argument is not relevant to the specific question the article tries to answer, as AI adoption through these means is forced and may in many cases go against user preferences.

Edit: The deciding factor being whether you want to figure out if people are interested in AI / find it useful, or if the question you seek answered is more akin to "X% of people consume lead in their food"

It is a real product. They take real payments and deliver on whats promised. Not sure if its an attempt to subvert criticism by using satirical language, or if they truly have so little respect for the open source community.

I've never done the math on this, but my immediate thought on that reasoning was always that you'd have to burn through a LOT of paper to actually have such an electronic product be more environmentally friendly. Does anyone have concrete data on this?

Ah, thank you for the correction. It's been quite a while since I used shell_gpt and things seem to have changed; I need to revisit these tools :) Your plugin suggestion sounds interesting, I'll consider it!

I finished shellmind (https://github.com/wintermute-cell/shellmind) a few days ago, and it might interest you! It avoids having to copy-paste commands, by integrating directly into the shell and let's you review the real command before send-off. It's also general purpose and can handle more then just ffmpeg.

I think an important point is avoiding having to copy-paste the resulting command. A few days ago I finished shellmind (https://github.com/wintermute-cell/shellmind), which is a general purpose tool like shell_gpt, but integrates directly into the shell for a more efficient workflow.
