The sad thing for me is that Notes’ core data model was really solid. As a rapid internal app dev platform it was ahead of its time in many ways. E.g. Microsoft’s sharepoint and power apps still cannot compete in terms of capabilities. IBM just didn’t know what to do with it.

WP plugins are why I banned it everywhere. Last time I used it was many years ago, so not sure it still applies, but back then even caching was done in a plugin, without which it was unusably slow… just no.

it wasn't meant as a rebuttal, I'm genuinely asking. tailscale + headscale was just recommended to me, hence that's what I'm using for self hosting. is wireguard's client roughly equivalent to tailscale's? especially tailscale's always-on nature is very appealing.

Why not tailscale plus head scale for self hosting?

and that's exactly the point: regulations absolutely need to change, just like gun laws in the US.

a) most people where I live are renters. property prices make it so.

b) in many if not most places (in Northern Europe), AC requires a permit, is very hard to get approved or even forbidden.

That last point for me is crucial. That's why the comparison IMO holds - a mostly preventable cause of death, ignored for political reasons.
