Yet another reminder to begin with the thing that sparks joy, and go from there. Thanks for posting. His photography in the deep archive section is great.

I appreciate the quick cut to calling out how disciplines suffer from lack of community - this point feels right, though calling AI out specifically falls a bit short for me. AI didn't make music clubs fail as businesses during upticks in property values in my city and it didn't move the arts scene to the outskirts when owners tried to cash in on said uptick, or kill the free print things that kept people in the actual physical local community in the loop. But yeah community sufferred.

I'm don't think I'm a booster - I'm personally struggling to keep the value of craft and taste in mind when I read such stuff; I believe those things will remain human-driven. Hopefully we can all agree there is a population out there using Claude or Chat to finish half-started or previously-aborted projects because they now have a (canned) accountability partner, projects that weren't economically feasible, where part of the prototyping thought process a funding picture and Total Addressable Market discussion. They may be super-niche and not sustainable businesses. You could even extend your community-building desires if you chose to.

Why isn't there more idea-maxxing happening, where we come together and workshop what we can actually accomplish for next to nothing timewise, but have some real positive impact? Like nurturing a community of your choice.

This is just me running an OODA loop - I see lots of crap / low-impact to humanity actions taking place. DM me for a virt coffee (see my profile) if you wanna talk some more about this 1:1.

I am super sympathetic with the bleak outlook, but it's not in my nature to stay focused there.

First release in over a year! I had left ST when I felt that there wasn't the will or resources to address basic usability things like https://github.com/sublimehq/sublime_text/issues/328

If anyone is following along in the forums and understands the health of the team behind the product, could you give us a read on the prospective longterm health of the product? Most in my circle thing ST is dead or abandoned.

The library where the discovery was made:

https://www.bnf.fr/en/actualitesEN/discovery-unpublished-aut...

I’m hoping that a full scan appears in the archive linked at the bottom of the page. I’m a composer and still hand-notate in a notebook. It’s so cool to the penmanship of someone writing in notebooks so quickly yet cleanly. In case you didn’t read, the contents are primarily exercises in composition where Mozart began a passage, the student continued, and Mozart corrected / guided the students work where needed. So there’s a higher percentage of Mozart in the pieces here than not. Like Brundlefly.

+1 for Kari. You’ll find smaller, less SEO’d sites favored in their search results.

From https://help.kagi.com/kagi/why-kagi/noads.html:

“Kagi Search is an ad-free search engine that will actively down-rank sites with lots of ads and trackers in the results and promote sites with little or no advertising”

Very creative guy operating this site (look at this! https://timthompson.com/spacepalette/) though it looks like it’s been idle the past 4 years or so? The live-coding community around tidal cycles will point you to a the fruit of missing projects like tidal-cycles and strudel. A strong inviting community: https://club.tidalcycles.org/

‘Your own enjoyment’ is a rich reward. My unsolicited advice: Try making a mess with it everyday for a week / month / year and see if you don’t start to appreciate something in what you make. Orca is a brilliant piece of work.

Sorry in advance for a short rant: This might be to be the most ‘no sh!t Sherlock’ obvious thing I’ve seen Seth write, and there is stiff competition in other posts of his. Am I the only one who sees civilization in decline reading something so obvious? ;) basically: Art (all culture?) traditionally disseminates at the whim of those controlling distribution channels. Always has been the case, always will be. You can choose a partner to disseminate or DIY, which the internet made way easier. Of course. It doesn’t need this new name “carriage”.
