SORRY WE MISSED YOU.

that "villain with fistfulls of RSUs" is just a tired, poor field network admin and a pair of underpaid remote hands trying to just live a single fucking day without some new eldritch fucking horror ready to create even more fucking trauma for them to put up with and rot another day.

They're not fully confident yet on the mmWave to go in the Macbook.

There's a reason they carefully have been bringing their own modem in via "weird" devices. The C1 came in on the 16e, C1X was the Air (phone+iPad), and they're finally confident enough to bring C2 to the mainline iPhones, but it seems like maybe not ready until C3 comes around next fall.

The cool thing is my office Microsoft Surface Laptop that will randomly wake up and sit there with its keyboard backlight full on and act dead... then you have to hold it for 30 seconds!

I guess I'm the one contributing to those crashlogs.

Or they could just be more 'powerful' compute that can clear the challenge faster.

I know I'm incensed at all of this because I feel like I'm the one that endlessly waits in front of the Anubis challenge for 5-10 seconds, or keeps getting extremely difficult or brain-draining hCaptchas thrown at me with no real solutions.

And I'm stuck with low-end compute for probably the rest of time at this point - not a single machine in the house has more than 8GB of RAM. So I'm just doomed to wait and burn my time and my sanity some more.

They didn't even need the AI to make thousands of hot bricks nationwide. Here's just one of the latest hits...

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/743...

"Cisco Access Points That Are Running, Or Have Run, Releases 17.12.4, 17.12.5, 17.12.6, or 17.12.6a May Exhaust Flash Space, Preventing Upgrades"

Recovery path basically involves either factory resetting every single AP or up to, if it's already bricked, Cisco TAC + you having to console into every single bricked AP you have to pass a secret challenge/response at the bootloader to flash a recovery image :)

"Assembled" in Alberta, but imported from China... shouldn't it just be the Chinese ODM beating their chest?

At the same time, though, the thought is "a criminal won't give out their business burner's cellphone number" to sign up for a card/unlock a case. There's still an additional level of self-selection required to be honest enough to want to acquire the loyalty card that a "dishonest" person does not want to spend time doing (they want to snatch and run).

Same reason Walmart gated the self-checkout Scan-and-Go-via-phone system behind a paid membership on Walmart+, criminal's not gonna burn fifty bucks to steal a couple times if they have to hand over anything vaguely close to PII, even if it's burner PII.

Diagnostic software is beginning to require more and more authentication.

https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2026/05/14/autoauth-certi...

You now need to be a "certified AutoAuth technician" using a "certified AutoAuth tool" (sure, like a $3000 SnapOn).

Or - some manufacturers ALSO require you to have NASTF Vehicle Security Professional access, which is another whole can of worms with insurance and business requirements.

https://support.nastf.org/support/solutions/articles/4300076...

Hyundai now requires you to have this stupid security professional certification if you dare try to service a modern Hyundai with a (lower cost) J2534 passthru tool instead of the official Hyundai service tool.

All of this still doesn't stop someone from sending packets direct on the CANbus to make a new key to someone's car, but it just makes it more miserable for the rest of us trying to work on the diagnostics of it all.

They're very multi-modal. Walmart will send deliveries out via Instacart, their own in-house drivers (1 year+ employees internally), Spark Delivery, and even Roadie ("a UPS Company"), though Roadie jobs are for oversize things that need a pickup truck or a van like TVs from what I've seen as a Roadie driver.
