This apparently just came out, was thinking they had this out for some time.

You don't need the other half of a base pair in your calculation

Oddly at the place I was with we saw literally the exact same metrics but inverse: productivity increase by mid-30%. Everyone hated the office so that makes sense.

My philosophy on it is that management is key. If butts-in-seats gives management the illusion of productivity then they will likely find out they are dead wrong. You can practically objectively measure productivity with remote work. Collaboration is more challenging and therefore surfaces many efficiencies you can make in your process.

Home Assistant + Node Red ~= 95% of anything I have ever needed of IoT (and this watch could tie into by extension). Albeit, I have put in easily >120 hours of work over the past couple of years to get it there, I still think it's mostly the answer to the issues you mention.

So I've been waiting patiently for something equivalent to Home Assistant but for QS and you pop up often. You're probably most expert to say what progress is being made for an integrated QS platform whereby you plop in a new integration and, even if there are a few manual steps (exporting, running a local software tool, etc.) you easily can import, slice on, and chart your data in a time series DB (similar to how with InfluxDB and Grafana you can do with Home Assistant). There were a few open source tools out there on GitHub but the ones I found were dated or didn't seem to have much love or enough of an audience to support them.

OH! I just saw you are the author of HPI which I have starred - it certainly was as close as I found but I pined for more evaluating it about half a year ago. How is progress? What other wise words can you lend?

I'm OK with it so long as it's something on GitHub, useful, and you can drop in replace it.

Could this be used to, say, collect a "royalty" on a work of art or good sold in perpetuity? In other words I create a painting that sells at a garage sale for $5. Then it is picked up by a local art collective and sells for $5,000. Later it is sold at Christies for $5,000,000. All the while my portfolio has benefited from this work but if I can collect forthcoming royalty of the sale of my work it too would be a nuanced stream of income.

Likewise some other thoughts: - Embedding an NFT in music so other platforms outside of Spotify can grow and each time your song is played you receive a small token? - A generator I bought from The Home Depot and sold to someone, who then sells it do someone, who then sells it as scrap metal? (incorporating diminishing returns as well?)

Odd to pick HRBlock/Intuit as they are used for convenience and because we don't have a central system like Sweden and have in the US 50 different states and territories with 50+ different tax rules and so many edge cases in existence it's almost the rule than the exception each individual has one.

Likewise these consultants are not just coming in and pointing their fingers at the obvious ICS on the internet. They are also providing services to understand why they were attached in the first place and where that process broke down, how to keep the current ease with which to operate the system, and implement the transitions.

with Big Sur though?

Home Assistant takes many disparate brands, services, devices, APIs and architectures for the world of IoT devices and yet they are able to somewhat successfully pull them together. I see no reason QS is any different and couldn't do the same even if it is scraping or exporting at intervals where an API does not exist. The analogy is different devices with different things they do, measure, record, and interact coming under a single umbrella of a QS service in a time series database (not unlike and maybe even exactly as is done with: Home Assistant + InfluxDB + Grafana).

I feel like the QS space needs a suite not unlike Home Assistant where you can plugin multiple integrations to these various services and begin collecting data relatively simply. Have you found anything in your travels that is mature enough to extend or spend time enhancing?

For those browsing here there is a common term for "tracking personal data" this called "Quantified Self". If you are interested in it as a n00b like I am this will greatly help start your search into the hobby. There are a lot of people doing it out there and a bunch of outdated or abandoned projects. I have yet to find a modern one that does for QS what Home Assistant has done for home automation and data collection.
