That's my feeling, too. It's probably my TDS, but it just seems weird that the shady founder of Binance got busted for laundering money, then got a shady pardon from Trump, and now billions have mysteriously gone missing. Someone's gonna have to kick up a portion of that money to Trump; he'll lay it all on North Korea and we'll all move onto the next headline.

In the US there's an extreme attitude of "I'm not paying for someone else...", and any sort of preventative care, like a heart score test, would fall into that category. This attitude is grounded on the personal responsibility mindset, that every person is responsible for taking care of themselves. So, for the 800K people that had heart attacks, the attitude in the US is largely, "They should've been proactive on their own, gotten the $100 test. Their heart attack is their own fault."

The line I hear all the time is: "Why do I care if sea levels rise a couple of inches? I don't own a house on the beach!"

I grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis during the 70s and 80s. My district was one of the last to desegregate schools in the state, fought for years to avoid it. Well, it finally happened in the early-80s, a 'bussing' program was started to bring Black kids from North St. Louis to attend schools in my district. I was probably 12 or 13 years old. I remember all the adults in the neighborhood were furious. There were protests outside my school on the first day. People threw rocks at the bus from North St. Louis when it pulled into the parking lot.

It was a little tense at school for, maybe, a few hours, but mostly it was just confusion - WTF is going on?. But after that, it was cool. All the kids quickly realized we're all basically the same - we all hated homework and were intimidated by girls, the usual adolescent stuff. I didn't know it at the time, but the school deseg program was one of the most impactful events of my childhood.

Any time the Dodgers or Yankees don't win the World Series, that's a reason to celebrate.

Both teams are small-ish markets. (Milwaukee is the smallest market.) Neither team has big-name players like Shohei Ohtani or Juan Soto. In other words, this was the series MLB didn't want, especially with the upcoming contracts talks.

A full operating system update, which includes auto-enabling a bunch of unwanted AI features and 50-GB of local models. Ugh.

According to my MAGA friends/family, Antifa is the biggest threat to the US.

My understanding is that they don't need to destroy records related to Kushner because he's not a government employee, his records aren't required to be retained. And that is, no doubt, by design.
