Of possible interest if you've ever been denied access to research by a paywall, or feel that the idea of Open Access is no longer possible due to high fees. PeerJ was established in 2012 (seeded by OATV) as a pure Open Access academic publisher with the aim to not just publish OA, but to make it affordable. Tim O'Reilly still sits on our Board today. We've shunned big VC, yet have become self-sustaining and are still founder-controlled.

PeerJ is looking for a Senior Developer who has advanced knowledge, experience, and leadership in front-end javascript frameworks (Vue is ++) and translating UX research into modern UIs. A nicer alternative for non-US folks, or even those in the US, would be DataHero (https://datahero.com/). Less feature rich than Tableau, but also extremely easy to use with practical graphs and data mashups out of the box.
I have no connection to the app, other than I've tried dozens like it, including Google's Data Studio.

Many consider CC BY SA not open either. Minimum CC BY, or CC0 e.g. http://oaspa.org/why-cc-by/

Listen to the two minute Q&A for the full context of the allegations. The wider context is that Elsevier has allegedly tried for years to limit researchers systematically downloading thousands of articles and data mining for insights...even with a paid subscription.
