I’m one of those people high THC weed changes perception of reality for me. It opens doors and way of thinking that should be locked or shouldn’t exist. CBD in the other hand, improve reasoning. It helped me a lot on many human relations.

I used elemeentary os at work for a while.

Looked great at the first view.

Months after using it became a living hell to work with it.

The delay between app switches is a shit.

Swiched to GNOME/Debian. Never looked back.

GNU make is one of the most complete task manager I have seem.

But there are a few major problems with it:

Newies often complain a lot about the esoteric syntax.

It's written in C.

It doesn't gets updated as fast as it should.

These points make it not very suitable for our current time.

I belive we all just need to pick something like gulp and port the "good parts" into it.

There is no point in having 20 tools that do the same!

This is something it bothers me a lot.

What they don't tell you is that in order to achieve "exactly once" delivery you need to have idempotent writes. For example inserting in a database using PKs.

Storm is pretty much dead. Spark, from my point of view, is the current forerunner.

It support mostly all use cases. Batch jobs. Streaming jobs. Work is being done to reduce the batch time to ms.

Comercial support is very good from the guys at Cloudera and Databricks.

My 2 cents. I hope It helps someone.

Yes. I always compare the size of the challenge with my own capabilities. This is one of the methods that lead me to take action or not.
