Not affiliated with emudhra in any way, but calling the option "emudhra" is in bad taste. The employee(s) response for this error will likely never live it down anyway, and now they have this to remind them of it for years to come.

Probably would have been better to call it "compromised" or something like that.

Kobo is great. Unfortunately - in India at least - the books are way more expensive on Kobo (often 2x or even more) than on Kindle. So I've found it hard to get rid of the Kindle though I prefer to read on the Kobo.

They have made it proprietary so that providers like AWS can't build their own service with it, thus eating into PS's income.

Google is big enough to survive open-sourcing Vitess, k8s, angular, etc. Planetscale isn't.

It's not about the post, but the fact that he's referred to as "ceo who fired 900 people on zoom". Nobody calls Mike Cannon-Brookes (Atlassian ceo) as "ceo who fired 1600 people by 6am email", for example.

Why is a layoff on zoom considered worse or more controversial than layoff by 4-6AM emails (which is what other companies like Meta, Oracle, Atlassian, etc did)?

In a recent interview I was asked to design a job queue and I went with postgres with the first and third optimizations mentioned here. For the scale of the question - 1000 concurrent jobs - I argued that postgres would easily scale. But the interviewer - maybe because they were from aws - felt it wouldn't and wanted me to go with sqs instead.

I never understood what Atlassian saw worth $ 1 billion in this company (DX). That's even more than what they paid ($700m) for Loom. Loom is at least useful as a screen recorder, and its notetaker (in Zoom calls) is pretty good as well.

We used to get these books in the annual international book fair in Delhi back in my childhood days. I still have 2 of them (Mathematics Can Be Fun and How The Steel Was Tempered), but I'm pretty sure we had several more at the time. They were fun reads, and the illustrations used to be great!
