Can you share which configuration scales to $0? I am not aware of that being possible. Even the serverless option has a base ACU rate.

So it seems that your complaint is that certain things are not funded enough at a university. Why is your conclusion then to defund universities entirely? It seems like a non sequitur.

What other goodies will they find during discovery?

Hopefully the public can get snippets like in Epic Games v. Apple.

I was under the impression that their business was $70/year to backup your whole computer (all drives, completely managed). Their backup service grew 23% yoy, so I wouldn't call it in decline.

Can you go into why Google Drive is a better alternative? I can see 2 TB for $100/yr, but I don't think the products are exactly the same.

Backblaze makes 73% of their revenue from computer backups. I do not see how the Cloudflare announcement will eat into that.

I would agree that B2 is their high growth area, but I do not think Cloudflare directly opposes B2.

What was the service that they retroactively increased the cost of?

A wonderful quote on your line of thinking --

“When I was poor and complained about inequality they said I was bitter; now that I'm rich and I complain about inequality they say I'm a hypocrite. I'm beginning to think they just don't want to talk about inequality.”

I don't think it's shady marketing. The company is composed of several prominent software engineers (eg Brad Fitzpatrick of memcached fame). I think many folks on HN (myself included) are interested to see what they are working on. Especially as Brad left Google to work on it.

Someone who is prosecuted for violating this will fight it, as they will have the most firm standing.

Because a housing crisis leads to skyrocketing home values. They benefit from increased housing prices.

Further, any countering increase in property taxes is dampened by Prop 13. So there is very little reason to sell and cash-in vs just holding on for longer as the problem worsens.

When you are a homeowner with an expensive house, you don't want more homes built. That will increase supply and lower price.

It's worth pointing out that for the vast majority of people doctors != insurance. The payer is not the provider.

The refrain of "people like their health insurance" deliberately conflates the two. People like their doctors, not their insurance. Doctors accept multiple insurance companies.
