There is so much in this title alone that sounds like a time capsule from 1999...

They were sending pages to the people on the kickstarter list, effectively crowd sourcing recipe testing. That was quite clever I thought. And their socials keep showing videos of the actual recipies etc. This is a legit book. It's just a shame that it carries that price tag. I could do with a less "beautiful" version if it was reasonably priced. Maybe a future edition.

This reminds me that I have a stack of 2600 magazines in the garage somewhere. I need to revisit them...

This looks great, I'll give it a try. It seems like most of the comments focus on how this was created, whether it's vibe coded, agent engineered, LLM assisted or however you want to term this. On one hand, I am sad at the collapse of my craft. I love building things in code, figuring it out from the system design to the last compile. On the other hand, I love how productive I am now. How I can complete tasks faster. As someone mentioned, there is a very larger distance between "I vibed coded it and I don't know how it worked" to "I built it and I used LLMs to assist the process". It is possible to design a system, and instruct LLMs to write code for you. Task them the actual act of code writing, not feature development. It's not "build me a music player" but "I'm building a music player that works like so, and you will now write me the play button component that will behave like so and so, focusing on this or that, paying attention to x, y and z and avoiding a, b and c".

Although the scope is different but I imagine a similar debate when one didn't need to write machine code anymore...

We have a Ring door bell (well, 2 of them plus 2 cameras) and also 2 chimes. Those chimes do one thing: they ring inside the house, one on each floor, when the door bells ring. Seems expensive and over complicated and it is. But it works quite well and has been very useful on many occasions.

I found out that people DO visualise about 10 years ago when that interview with Pixar's animation head came out. I had a bit of a shock at first, then disappointment, then a deeper understanding of why I am like I am. A few metaphorical minutes later I got on with life. I'm not sure how to take this "club" for the "mentally blind". On one hand, I applaud humanity's ability to monentise pretty much everything, and on the other hand, I'm not sure I want to talk about how I can't see in my mind with other people who can't see in their mind. It's a neat conversation piece when in a group of people or friends, but a club?... Jury's out... I did sign up though.... Took the "test"...

Yes... Semantics and old age don't mix

Is that fiber to the property or fiber to the cabinet? In the UK I get FTTC which means the last bit from the cabinet down the road to my house is copper wires. My speed is bottlenecked by that. New builds and flats get services for the building giving them full fiber. My fiber is only as fast as my copper wire to the cabinet allows

This is pretty awesome! I've got 2 Amigas and 2 Spectrums. They are kitted up and upgraded but this never really ends. This will be useful!
