Unfortunately, there are very few/no options in the market which don't spy on you. Let me know if you get one especially in the OLED space

I don't think you need any software updates for your TV. I have a LG oled which I haven't connected to Internet for the last 3 years. Just do a factory reset and don't connect TV to Internet. Everything works without software updates

I used to think the same before I bought a hybrid (Honda CRV). It is different from Toyota but also a very simple setup (generator + ev at low to medium speeds and direct drive at high speeds). It technically doesn't even have a gear box and no alternator. It has less maintenance items than its ICE equivalent. (Not taking into account the battery replacement in long term)

Paypal owned Honey seems to be using sneaky UX to get affiliate share. They are overriding affiliate links just before the checkout.

They are also using deceptive advertising to users by promising them best coupon codes. But they don't apply the best coupon code even when they know about it.

What a great comment. Thanks for writing this out.

One more thing to mention here is that Software Engineers are paid more because the industry is able to scale well to individual engineers outputs.

One thing where Software Engineers differ from a lot of others is asymmetric input and output. A single change in production can save millions of dollars easily. This is possible but difficult to do in other engineering fields like Construction, Hardware etc.

I love the engineering behind Voyager 2. Is there a good book or documentary that folks here on HN recommend to go deep on the various engineering pieces behind Voyager ?

Public transportation is not dangerous but cycling on roads made for cars is.

This is exactly what I did. I imported my GPad in 2013. It is still working as a pdf reader with its screen seperated.

I am planning to do some DIY fix and going to donate it. There are many kids here in India who needs a digital device to do their online classes but have to use a small screen phone

Author has written his own router software and probably wants to continue to develop it. They are much more pro than your normal average home user.

This has already started happening in India where thiefs are replacing QR codes which are stuck outside of a Shop
